描述

J PREP A+ is seeking motivated native English instructors to join our team at our rapidly growing schools in Shibuya, Jiyugaoka, Yotsuya, and Myogadani. Our instructors are committed to improving our students’ English proficiency through daily instruction and support in and out of the classroom.

The A+ program at J PREP is a Tokyo-based after school program where students spend several hours daily. Approximately two of those hours are spent in English classes taught by a native-level speaker, while the remainder of the time is spent either studying other subjects such as Japanese, math, and robot programming, or having free time to play and talk with their friends and staff.

J PREP A+ offers a positive working environment and the opportunity for professional growth in areas beyond teaching. The A+ program’s students’ ages range from 6-11. Our English classes consist of group lessons which are language-focused and CLIL-based. Successful candidates will be able to teach engaging and fun lessons for beginner to intermediate-level students, in addition to creating an environment conducive to language learning.

We are looking to fill positions from October onward.

We offer:
• A Monday – Friday workweek, 6 hours/day
• ~260,000 - 300,000 yen / month (paid at 2200 yen / hour)
• Enrollment in pension and social health insurance
• 10 paid leave days after 6 months of employment and time off on national holidays.
• Transportation costs fully reimbursed
• Visa renewal support
• Additional work and pay for teaching our robot programming classes may be available.
• Easy access to regular communication with the creators of the courses to share feedback on content
• A fixed work location for the entire academic year. Teachers will see their students daily and play a key role in their language and personal growth.
• A positive, modern, and comfortable work environment that encourages both teamwork and independence for teachers.
• Some possible flexibility regarding working and break start/finish times.
• Initial onboarding and training, with additional support throughout the year given through observations, group workshops, and regular meetings.

About the Position:
• Workdays are Monday – Friday, excluding national holidays.
• Regular workdays are 6 hours long, plus a 45-minute break. A typical day will be from 12:30 – 19:15. (30 hours / week)
• During seasonal programs (1 week in spring, 6 weeks in summer, 1 week in winter) and certain special events, workdays may be 8 hours long plus a 1-hour break. A typical day may be from 9:45 – 18:45 PM.
• There are events on 1-2 Saturdays in the academic year for which teachers may be asked to work; substitute holidays can be arranged.
• Most days require only 2 hours of teaching. The remainder of the workday is spent preparing for lessons, grading student work, practicing reading with students, participating in meetings, engaging with students outside of class, decorating and arranging the classroom or school, and other duties as requested.
• All lessons are group lessons; class sizes may range from 8-15 students.
• Lesson plans and materials are provided.
• A company-issued notebook PC is provided.

The right candidate will:
• Have at least a bachelor’s degree
• Have prior teaching experience
• Have native-level English speaking ability
• Be able to work on-site at one of our Tokyo schools in Shibuya, Jiyugaoka, Yotsuya, or Myogadani
• Possess a valid working visa
• Have an engaging teaching style, a positive attitude, and enjoy working with children
• Maintain flexibility and patience in an adaptive learning environment
• Be responsible and take initiative to ensure the success of classes and events

About J PREP

J PREP is a liberal arts program based in central Tokyo. J Prep was founded in 2012 by Jun Saito, a former assistant professor of political science at Yale University and the author of several recent bestselling books.

Our students are between the ages of 3 through 18 and aim to attend top schools in and around Tokyo. Many of our students aspire to study abroad, attend university at high-ranking schools in the United States and other countries, or enter English-oriented domestic programs.

Our highly-qualified faculty members are graduates of some of the top liberal arts programs in the US and internationally, and many hold advanced degrees.

J PREP is rapidly expanding. Our multimedia curriculum is intended to broaden students' perspectives, and supplemental courses in various liberal arts disciplines (such as literature, economics, and science) are offered periodically. Our long-term mission is to better the overall quality of the Japanese educational system from the bottom up, rather than merely teaching conversational English or preparing students for entrance exams in Japan. As many of our faculty members have lived outside Japan, they understand the importance of English as a communication device. For the same reason, J PREP's work environment is not confined by traditional Japanese corporate culture.

Please note that due to the volume of applicants we regularly receive we will only contact shortlisted candidates directly.
