Part-time English Literature Teacher needed from August 2018.
Teacher needed for Hiroo Gakuen Junior and Senior High School International Course. All students are native level English speakers so we require native English-speaking teachers to teach in English. Students are not learners of English. No Japanese speaking ability is necessary.
Previous experience with this age and a relevant first degree are valued over formal teaching experience and qualifications. The teacher would be responsible for preparing and teaching classes, setting and grading homework and setting and grading tests. Formal tests are given five times a year and teachers would be expected to be available to proctor tests.
The salary is 3,500 yen per hour, times number of contracted hours, times fifty-two weeks, divided by twelve. An example nine-hour weekly schedule would be paid as follows: 3500 x 9 x 52 ÷ 12 = 136,500 yen. It is important to note that even though this is a part-time position, the amount paid remains constant throughout the year so is not affected by summer or winter vacations or by whether classes are scheduled or not. Transportation costs are also covered and all salaries are paid on the twentieth of the month.
We are looking for a specialist in English literature rather than an English language teacher. There will be 9 hours a week of reading and writing classes for junior high school students grades 1-3.
All classes are 50 minutes in length. There are four classes on Tuesday, starting at 9:35 and finishing at 2:25. There are three classes on Wednesday, starting at 9:35 and finishing at 2:25. There are two classes on Thursday, starting at 9:35 and finishing at 2:25. We cannot change these times.
The curriculum and content are all fixed and all materials and texts are provided. We are looking for a bright, energetic person who enjoys teaching and is confident that they can provide motivating, challenging lessons to our students.
