Notes on our history and culture:

Atlanta English School was founded in 2012 to be an alternative learning environment for English education. Combining traditional teaching philosophies with innovative techniques, fun learning materials, reasonable prices, and top-notch teachers and staff who are focused on customer service, we have grown into one of the busiest English schools in Meito Ward while continuing to retain our small school relaxed atmosphere.

We are looking for English teaching professionals who will be committed to joining us in fulfilling our mission: "Creating positive change in people and in our community." At our school, being teachers and staff means our goal is to improve, and this is in order to provide the best customer experience we can. We have an ongoing training and professional development system which aims to make each teacher the best teacher they can be. Newer teachers will gain valuable insight and skills through our mentoring program. Incoming widely-experienced teachers will also be trained as newer teachers, but will be asked to contribute what they’ve learned in their prior experiences to share the knowledge with less-experienced teachers. We strive to give the best lessons in the most comfortable learning environment, and to contribute positively to our community through monthly and yearly events.

About the lessons, we offer students a wide selection of learning options. Most of our students are private adults. These students are usually just studying temporarily, either for a higher TOEIC score or for an upcoming presentation. Most of them are studying business. Many of our students are relocating abroad and we prepare them for their new life by educating, quite often, the entire family.

We also have a sizable group of children who are studying in our weekly kids course, which is mostly between the hours of 15:30-19:30, Monday to Friday. The kids course students often have no prior experience with English and need special care, especially at the beginning, but before long they become much more comfortable in the English environment. In these classes, we emphasize listening, reading and phonics as a surefire way to speaking. We also have a growing group of core students who have been with us since the beginning. Most are still beginners, but are invested in the process of expanding their English abilities, usually with the goal of passing Eiken 3 before entering Junior High. Lastly, we have a large group of returnees (students who have lived abroad) to whom we teach a curriculum geared more toward native speakers than ESL learners. In general, the learning needs of all students are quite varied, so we wish to offer our students a sound general program of English study that allows for teacher flexibility in times when we need it.

That's where you come in. If you love teaching and really want to expand your horizons and elevate your career, then please join us!

Apply through Gaijinpot and be sure to include a resume and cover letter. Tell us why you are applying to our school and if you are more interested in teaching kids or adults, or have no preference. Give us some information about your background and experience, and how you would be a good fit for our school. Also, let us know how soon you can start. We are looking for people to join us right away. Skype interviews for out-of-town applicants can be arranged. Some relocation assistance, though nominal, is available.

If your qualifications are a good match for our school, we will contact you for an interview. We are sorry we cannot contact every applicant who applies.

Thank you for your interest in our school! We hope to hear from you!
