Description

We are seeking an energetic and fun full time English Instructor to join our teaching staff at Kirin Kindergarten, Kirin Nursery, and Kirin afterschool (a program for elementary students) Kirin Kindergarten believes in a fun, yet effective approach to teaching, and is seeking a talented addition to our teaching team. This is an exciting opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Fukuoka while experiencing Japanese culture.

About Kirin:
Kirin Kindergarten and Kirin Nursery are both highly reputable International school located in Fukuoka City, Japan, and our students range between the ages of 0-6 years old. Class sizes range from 25-30 students and are accompanied by 1-3 Japanese teachers. We also have a afterschool program for 1st-5th graders (6-10 years old). Kirin Kindergarten is a well-established school of 40 years and is excited about expanding its English Program.

Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate will be between the ages of 21-40, and must speak English natively. A completed Bachelor’s degree in any discipline is required at or before the time of application. At this time, we are only accepting candidates from the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.  Previous experience working with young children or previous teaching experience is highly preferred, along with previous exposure to Asian culture. Teachers must be physically capable and easily mobile as classes are fast-paced and active. Although not required, basic Japanese language skills are strongly preferred. Our ideal candidate must love children and must be fun, caring, personable, professional, and creative.

Compensation:
Instructor will be provided a monthly salary of \250,000 as well as an additional monthly housing stipend of \27,000. Instructor will be provided with a fully furnished apartment, a golden week (about 10days) in May, a summer holiday of two weeks, a winter holiday of two weeks, and health insurance. In addition, the Instructor is allowed a total of 10-15 sick days to be used throughout the duration of the contract. In order to accommodate the Japanese school year without interruption, teaching contracts in April of 2020 and last through August of 2021. Daily working hours are from 9-7 (8 working hours per day) including an hour of break time. Our candidate must be able to arrive in Japan by end of March 2020 in order to be ready for the new school year. Flight reimbursement is not included, but is negotiable after initial contract completion.

About our Instructor:
Our Instructor must love working with young children, must be creative and flexible as an Instructor, and must be willing to adapt his/her teaching style to suit multiple classes. Instructor must be energetic and must thrive in a fast-paced work culture. Some work in the nursery may be required as well as occasional classroom supervision. There will be few school events such as entrance ceremony, summer camp, field trips, seasonal events, and graduation, we ask our instructor to attend with children.
