Description

Nagoya University of Commerce & Business (NUCB) is an AACSB International and AMBA accredited academic institution in Japan. Our main campus sits on a 200 acre, wooded expanse in Nisshin City in Aichi prefecture, located in central Japan.

We seek to hire a Learning Advisor for our Self-Access Center (SAC), which is a learner-oriented language learning facility that encourages the development of learner autonomy.

The SAC provides materials, activities, and staff support to help students develop skills necessary for taking control over the content, pace, and method of their learning. In addition, the SAC supports the Department of English in our Faculty of International Studies.

The initial appointment will be for one-year and renewable annually. The work-week is Monday through Friday with weekends, national holidays and other vacation allowances provided.

We offer a generous salary and benefits package which includes healthcare, national pension, transportation allowance, visa support and other benefits. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Specific Duties for the Learning Advisor:

1. Help students set individual language learning goals
2. Advise and counsel students on their language learning goals
3. Orient and train students on the purpose and function of the self-access
center
4. Orient and train students on the technical, strategic and pedagogical aspects of
the online self-access program
5. Manage an online self-access program for 1st year English majors in the Faculty
of International Studies
6. Help manage and provide student access to self-access materials
7. Liaise with the SAC Committee Head and the Dean of the Faculty of International
Studies on SAC-related issues
