Description

Katoh Gakuen is a private Japanese school (K-12) in Numazu, Shizuoka - one hour south of Tokyo on the Pacific Coast. The school is an English immersion program for Japanese students. Students who complete the elementary program complete their secondary studies in our International Baccalaureate program.

Classroom teachers teach the Japanese national curriculum (Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, PE, etc.) in English. Teachers work in collaboration with other Japanese and foreign teachers at your grade level.

Work Hours: M-F, 8:00AM - 4:40PM

Teachers must have elementary teacher certification from an English speaking country and several years of elementary school teaching experience as a homeroom teacher. Additional training and experience in TESOL is advantageous.

We’re looking for passionate, dedicated, resourceful teachers who are flexible and open-minded individuals committed to building collaborative relationships and delivering a high quality curriculum using best instructional practices with children learning English as a second or foreign language.

Starting yearly salary is based on experience and level of education and ranges between 3.9 million and 6.0 million. Housing Allowances, Health Insurance, Pension, Airfare are also included.

Katoh Gakuen was the first school in Japan to implement an English immersion program in 1992. Most of the students are Japanese nationals whose first language is Japanese. It is the first school in Japan to receive authorization from the International Baccalaureate (IB) for its Middle Years Program, and was the first (and only) Japanese national school to receive authorization for its IB Diploma Program. (Please note that the elementary is not a PYP school.) The school is recognized internationally as a leader in bilingual & immersion education.
