Description

We have an opening for an Early Childhood English Immersion Teacher for children between the ages of 3-5 in a Japanese preschool - kindergarten.

Katoh Gakuen is a private Japanese school (PreK-12) in Numazu, Shizuoka - one hour south of Tokyo on the Pacific Coast. The we were the FIRST English immersion school in Japan founded in 1992 and continue to be at the forefront of English Immersion in Japan. Children who complete the kindergarten & elementary program continue their secondary studies in our International Baccalaureate Programme. (In 2000, we were the first Japanese school to be authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization.) Over half of all of our students eventually go on to universities abroad.

Our Preschool/Kindergarten English Immersion Program provides Japanese children with an early childhood education through the medium of the English language. As a consequence of receiving age appropriate instruction in English, the children acquire English as their second language while working within the Japanese early childhood curriculum.

This is NOT an assistant teaching position. Foreign staff have the similar duties and responsibilities as the Japanese kindergarten staff. Salary is based on education and experience. Salary range is 3,600,000 - 4,500,000 a year. Housing Allowance, Health Insurance, Pension, and Airfare to Japan included.

We’re looking for passionate, dedicated, resourceful teachers who are flexible and open-minded individuals committed to building collaborative relationships and delivering a high quality curriculum using best instructional practices with children learning English as a second or foreign language. Teachers work within a cooperative teaching arrangement with a TEAM of foreign and Japanese teachers at each grade level.

This is a full-time post. 40 hour work week.

Teaching credentials and/or experience in early childhood required. TESOL/EFL training and experience preferred. We’re looking for passionate, dedicated, resourceful teachers who are flexible and open-minded individuals committed to building collaborative relationships and delivering a high quality curriculum using best instructional practices with children learning English as a second or foreign language.
