Description

Japan International Education Center was established in 2001 but the history of the company goes back to 1985 when our president, Ikuko Tsuboya, opened English Studio Mita in Minato ward, Tokyo. The initial goal was to provide a more interesting alternative to standard English conversation schools. Over the past 31 years Ikuko Tsuboya has overseen the opening of an international elementary and middle school (Tokyo International School), an international school student tutoring service (International School Support Service), an English education consulting company (ES Consulting), a franchise business dealing with immersion English kindergartens and afterschool programs (Global Institute) and two non-profit organizations (International Educational Association for Children, and International Secondary School).

JIEC currently employs a teaching and administration staff of approximately 150 that service more than 300 schools (private EFL, nursery, kindergarten, elementary, junior and senior high schools) throughout Japan. Taking the lessons we have learned over the past 31 years we hire, train and manage teachers, create curricula and run English programs together with our partner schools and companies.

We are now looking to hire a manager to be in charge of our HR department.

POSITION DETAILS: The basic work week is Monday to Friday (however, the manager will need to be available to work on Saturdays based on seasonal recruiting needs). Paid vacation days are every Saturday and Sunday (make-up days are provided if weekend work is required), public holidays, five days paid leave, one week during summer, and two weeks in winter. The work day is 9 hours in length with a 1-hour lunch break. The basic daily schedule will be 9:30 to 18:30, but it must be mentioned that the Manager is expected to work the hours necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creation of yearly recruitment plans, working within assigned budget
- Working with the Director to create program-specific contracts
- Working with individual Program Managers to meet recruitment needs
- Creating recruitment progress reports
- Payroll
- Facilitating smooth flow of information between accounting department and teachers
- Maintaining employee records

IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a professional in the HR field, who has excellent people skills, an ability to work under pressure, and a high level of professionalism and dedication to the role. Ideally, the successful candidate will have an HR related degree, at least 2 years in a recruitment role, experience working in the English education industry, and at least 5 years experience living in Japan (as a strong understanding of Japanese culture is required).

LOCATION: Our HQ is located near Meguro station. This is where the Manager will be based.

START DATE: as soon as the successful candidate is available.

COMPENSATION: The wage will start at 400,000 per month. Transportation is fully reimbursed. Participation in social insurance and pension is required. An annual bonus will be made available based on a set of goals linked to company performance.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS: We will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates will be contacted to arrange face-to-face interviews for candidates who are able to come to our Meguro HQ, or Skype web-interviews for those who can’t. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications and letters of reference. Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a second round of interviews. Once a final decision has been made we will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will then be invited in to sign employment documentation.

We look forward to receiving your application.
