Description

Established in September 2011, Global Institute (GI) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS) and Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG) at our Nakameguro, Minami Azabu and Roppongi Arc Hills campuses. We also have a franchise campus based in Kachidoki, Chuo-ku, and another in Maruyama, Sapporo. In July 2015 we will be helping Seibunkan to open a new franchise campus in Nishinomiya, Hyogo.

TISAS is an after school program that provides an immersion environment (children must attend at least 3 days per week) for non-native English speaking children. Students attend classes from 2pm until 7pm (the students arrive anytime between 2pm and 4pm). The first 2 hours is called See, Hear and Wonder Time and is a guided play time and homework time. Between 4pm and 7pm we have 5 focused study blocks: Circle Time, Kinesthetic, Story Telling, Language Strategies, and Course Time. The Course Time is different each day with Monday being Food, Tuesday is Art, Wednesday is Music, Thursday is Our World, and Friday is Kids Force. Classes are separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 18.

We are currently looking to hire a Teacher who will work with the Head Teacher to help Seibunkan to successfully open and run this new TISAS campus.

POSITION DETAILS: The work week is Monday to Friday. Paid vacation days are every Saturday and Sunday, public holidays, five days paid leave (after the first 6 months of employment), and two weeks in winter (there will be a one week summer vacation from next year but as the position starts in summer this year there will be no summer vacation). The daily work schedule is 11:00am to 20:00pm, however the actual block of work hours may shift slightly forward or back depending on the needs of the campus.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree and two years experience (ideally working with elementary students in Japan).

LOCATION: The school is located near Kurakuen-guchi station on the Hankyu Koyo line and Shukugawa station on the Hankyu Kobe line.

START DATE: The start date is between July 13th and July 27th, 2015.

TRAINING: A training period of 1 week will be held prior to the start of classes.

COMPENSATION: The starting wage will be between 260,000 and 280,000 per month. Participation in the Social Insurance and Pension is required (company contributions are made on top of the stated wage level with teacher contributions being deducted from the wage). Transportation is reimbursed up to 50,000 per month.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS: GI is providing a recruitment service for Seibunkan. GI will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates who meet the requirements will be contacted to arrange face-to-face interviews for teachers who are able to come to our Tokyo HQ, or Skype web-interviews for those who can’t. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications and letters of reference. Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a second round of interviews, which will include a trial lesson. These second round interviews will be conducted with Seibunkan staff and they will make the final decision. Once that final decision has been made GI will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will meet with Seibunkan to sign employment documentation.

We look forward to receiving your application.
