GENERAL​ ​RESPONSIBILITIES 
Play a key role in developing and implementing communications strategy, brand
development and brand management across print and digital channels in
cooperation with the Director of Communications. Produce creative,
professional pieces for school offices, PTA and other members of the ASIJ
community.

SPECIFIC​ ​RESPONSIBILITIES 
Creative
● Design and layout school publications
● Assist with digital content for web and social media
● Design and produce T-shirts and collateral for a variety of school groups
and events (monthly/as required)

Print Management
● Manage the printing of various materials through our Japanese and US
printers
● Source quotes
● Schedule delivery of publications

Prepress Work
● Prepare files to be sent to printers and ftp/send data
● Create press-ready and web-ready pdfs as required
● Check proofs, make data corrections, supervise corrections made by printer
Photography and Images
● Take and source photographs and illustrations for publications
● Post-production work on photographs for touch-ups, color correction and
compositing

Branding
● Maintain and refine current brand guidelines
● Update Communications Handbook as needed
● Develop marketing/admissions and fundraising materials in line with brand
objectives
● Develop and implement social media strategies and content that advance
the brand in cooperation with the Director of Communications and Communications Assistant

Web & Coding
● Maintain and develop The Gate (parent portal) and Intranet in cooperation
with the Director of Communications
● Maintain and develop www.asij.ac.jp site in cooperation with the Director of
Communications
● Coding for web as required
● HTML5 content for interactive signage as needed

Environmental Design
● Responsible for strategy and design of campus-wide signage and
wayfinding
● Design additional environmental content as required
● Create content for school-wide digital signage
Design management
● Assign and oversee work of junior designers (either temp or freelance)
● Work with student designers as required
Other
● Assist in other work related to the responsibilities described above as
requested by the Director of Communications and Director of the
Advancement
● Assist with Advancement-related activities
● Support archival work by scanning documents and photos
 
QUALIFICATIONS​ ​AND​ ​EXPERIENCE
● Minimum of BA in graphic design
● Two years of experience in editorial design, in-house corporate design or in
agency
