Description

We are looking for experienced part-time English teachers for the 2020 regular/dispatch kids English program as below.

STRONG CANDIDATES would be those who:
・have a degree in Education and solid English teaching experiences in Japan
・have a strong passion for nurturing children’s potential through education, and
・are organized, flexible, and able to communicate in Japanese.

[Contract Term for all the positions listed below]
April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021
*Start dates vary depending on positions.
*Also open for the class that starts in May
*Classes are not run during summer, winter and spring breaks.
*YMCA will inform you detailed academic schedule at the interview.
*Some positions may not be available if current teachers renew their contracts.

[Class Locations]
・Nagoya YMCA (Ikeshita): Chikusa-ku Nagoya                
・Nanzan Family YMCA: Showa-ku Nagoya
・Kamisawa Family YMCA: Midori-ku, Nagoya, or/and
・A kindergarten in Higashi-ku

[Schedule]
Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and/or Saturday
Class Hours: 30 mins to 6.6 hours depending on the class between 9:30 to 19:00.
*Details will be explained at the interview

[Students]
Kindergarten to Elementary school age

[Wage]
3,500 yen – 17,200 yen per lesson or per day
*Wages vary depending on positions.

[Public Transportation Allowance]
Maximum ¥1,500 for round-trip per day


*Teachers are required to arrive early enough to prepare for the class and stay for extra 10-15 minutes to tidy up the classroom.


[Responsibilities]
Responsibilities include the followings:
・Conduct engaging, enjoyable, and educational English language class based on our teaching curriculum and additional instruction to help nurture the potential of our students through the language education (Teaching contents may include phonics, grammar, listening, reading, speaking, pronunciation, theme study, crafts, art, and P.E.). For some classes, curriculum may not be available and you will be asked to create your own lessons.
・Set up your classroom before your students arrive and tidy up classrooms after class
・Establish and maintain order in the classroom
・Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning
・Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to provide a duty of care for students and to protect and preserve all materials, equipment, and facilities
・Cooperate and communicate with non-English speaking YMCA staff or kindergarten staff.

*Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview and demonstration lesson with a YMCA teacher and staff.
