Description

AICJ Junior and Senior High School is a privately-funded IB World School accommodating approximately 715 students. In junior high school we provide a tailor-made curriculum with a number of the courses in grades 7-9 taught in English in an immersion environment. Math, music, science, physical education and English are taught by both foreign and Japanese teachers in junior high school. In high school, we operate a dual pathway system whereby students select either the domestic course to prepare for entry into Japanese universities or the internationally recognized IB Diploma Programme. Typically, students who aspire to attend overseas universities select the IB Diploma course.

The school is currently seeking experienced and highly motivated teachers for the following subject areas:

• Music
• Economics

In addition to the above subject areas, the school may also require teachers to deliver Junior High School English lessons. Teachers with experience in teaching Music or Economics to second language students will be strongly considered.

Start dates are as follows:

• Teacher of Music – April 2019
• Teacher of Economics – April 2019

Working conditions:

- 22 days paid holiday a year

Application process

Applicants should submit their CV/resume outlining their teaching experience, education and work history along with a covering letter outlining their teaching philosophy, reasons for applying and suitability for the position. Contact details of two referees from different organisations must also be provided.

Only successfully screened candidates will be contacted for an interview and asked to submit a lesson plan. During the interview process, candidates may be asked to deliver a demonstration lesson based on their lesson plan. If a candidate is asked to attend an interview, travel expenses will not be reimbursed by the school.

On offer of employment, candidates must provide their original university degree certificate and university transcript so that a teaching licence from the local board of education can be obtained. The school will apply for the teaching licenses, however, candidates are expected to pay the full cost of licenses (approximately 3200 yen per license). Please note, any offer of employment is depended on teaching licences being obtained.
