Description

Our school is not a big corporation, but a small cozy school run by a private owner.

(1) Working Place
Our school is in Mito, Ibaraki. Ibaraki is a bit far from Tokyo (one hour by express train), but you can enjoy the nature and can meet nice local people. Because we are in local, it's convenient if you can ride a bike. Your school is walkable from your apartment.

(2) Working hours / days
Working hours from 14:00 to 20:30, and from Monday to Saturday (five days a week. We finish at 17:00 on Saturday). We rotate Saturday work every a few months.
We have a morning "baby class" every other week starting at 10:00.

One lesson is 50 minutes long, and there is ten-minutes break in between the lessons.
On special events like "Easter, Halloween and Christmas", you are asked to work outside the lesson to decorate the classroom.

There are usually five lessons a day. We have five to six students in a classroom.

(3) Our students
Our school has about 300 students right now. Their age ranges from 2 to about 18.
Most of them are children, and they want to learn English in an entertaining way.
Sometimes you have to play a role of an entertainer as well as an instructor.
And also, because our students are young, sometimes you have to take care of them in a nursery style. They are really energetic, naturally want to move.

(4) How to teach
All the teaching materials and plans are here. You don't have to spend time on making them. In the classroom, always there is another Japanese assistant teacher to help you and take care of the children. The assistant teacher will translate you, prepare the music and sort out the teaching materials. There are staff meeting about what to teach and how to teach every two weeks on Mondays (Tuesday) before the actual lesson begins.

(5) Holidays
We have long paid holidays in May, August and for Christmas holidays you have two weeks paid holidays. Plus, on all national holidays, we have no lessons.

If you are sociable and like teaching children, you will have a great time here.
