Head Teacher for Primary school
Laurus International School of Science is seeking a Head Teacher with a proven record of success in educational leadership, preferably with a background in science and knowledge of STEM approaches to learning. This person must be an exceptional leader who will work closely with the Board to promote STEM education in the school and the wider Tokyo community.

Laurus International School of Science is the first and only STEM school in Japan. We embrace the latest technology and teaching methodologies to prepare the children of today for the world of tomorrow, and all the promise that holds. With a strong focus on science at all levels, we strive to develop each child’s inquisitive mind. Children are introduced to inquiry-based learning from an early age to foster their natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge. We promote project-based learning through a wide range of hands-on science experiments, perhaps working in one of our science labs or learning to use the latest technology such as programmable robots and 3D printers.
With an eye to the future, Laurus International School of Science also has a strong focus on developing traditional core competencies in each student. Our programme includes a wide range of exciting events throughout the year that are fulfilling for students and teaching staff alike.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have a minimum of a B.A / B.Sc or higher and teaching certification or B.Ed with the appropriate credential in primary school teaching
Master degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred
Teacher certification and/or educational administration certification
EXPERIENCE:
At least 3 years as a classroom teacher
At least 2 years experience in a school leadership position preferred
Experience teaching science preferred
Experience teaching in a diverse linguistic and cultural setting preferred
Experience working with a British curriculum preferred

DUTIES:
Advocate for the Mission and Vision of Laurus within the school community and to the public
Establish clear goals and be committed to continuous school improvement in academics and extracurricular activities
Work closely with the Board to ensure that the school operates in accordance with its stated goals and vision
Provide educational leadership and opportunities for Professional Development for teaching staff
Be responsible for the recruitment, selection, assignment and evaluation of all teachers
Supervise the delivery of the Cambridge curriculum and provide support to teachers to facilitate successful course delivery
Supervise the assessment of students and reporting procedure to parents in relation to student progress
Encourage parental participation in their child’s school life
