The School
The Senri and Osaka International Schools (SOIS) were founded 30 years ago at the foot of the beautiful mountains of Mino city in the north of Osaka prefecture, 25 minutes away from downtown Osaka. SOIS is a part of the Kwansei Gakuin non-profit educational foundation and is a unique educational institution thanks to our Two Schools Together ethos. Senri International School (SIS) follows the MEXT Japanese middle and high school curriculum while OIS follows IB programmes from K to 12. The Position
The SOIS visual arts department is at the heart of our Two Schools Together programme. We are looking for a dynamic, positive educator to join an international team of teachers from August 2021. The successful candidate will be able to develop and deliver visual arts courses to middle and high students from both schools with English levels ranging from beginner through to native speakers. Middle school visual arts lesson content is developed by our full time teachers who will also be teaching sections of the course while high school visual arts elective courses have more flexibility with content depending on the specialty and interests of the successful candidate.

Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should be experienced and certified visual arts teachers. Experience teaching the
International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at an international school is preferable but not required as further training will be provided. You will have the academic background and creativity to tailor the MYP design cycle to the students’ needs, and the resources available at the school. You will be able to collaborate with colleagues and work with teachers from other disciplines in building MYP transdisciplinary units. The ability to adapt and tailor materials for different levels of English ability is essential.

Salary & Benefits
We offer a competitive rate calculated by the number of classes taught and including holidays. A commuting allowance is also paid. It is ideally suited to a locally resident or a travelling spouse, not in need of relocation, allowances or other benefits that come with a full-time position. The number of in-charge hours will be informed prior to each term and is subject to change based on our needs. The number of hours is approved by the heads of schools of OIS and SIS. Typically, there will be 15-20 hours per week. This is a year-long contract with the possibility of renewal based on the agreement of both parties.
