Global Learning Advancement Department (GLAD) is seeking passionate and committed educators to be placed as English language teachers in preschools, elementary, junior high, senior high schools and universities across Japan. Successful candidates will be flexible, enthusiastic and passionate about English education.

Sayo Town Full-Time ALT Position

We are advertising for a full-time position as an assistant language teacher (ALT) in Hyogo prefecture, Sayo Town beginning at the start of April 2020, with the initial contract finishing at the end of March 2021. The placement will be in Elementary and Junior High Schools, where the ALT will assist as a team teacher and help plan English lessons under a schedule created by GLAD and the Board of Education. As well as teaching English lessons, you may also be asked to participate in other school activities such as clubs, cleaning of the school and cultural festivals.

Contract dates:
April 2020 (ASAP) – March 2021

Position Requirements:
・Must be a native speaker of English, or have acquired an education in English for at least 12 years.
・Must have completed a University Bachelor’s Degree (or higher).
・Must be currently residing in Japan
・Must have a strong interest in Japanese culture and language and be able to connect with Japanese people.
・Past English teaching experience in Japan strongly preferred.
・Must have a valid visa status that allows you to live and work in Japan (Visa sponsorship available).

Placement Requirements
・Applicants must have a valid international or Japanese driver’s license for the whole duration of the contract.
・Applicants who currently own their own vehicle are preferred. However we can prepare a car on lease.
・Applicants must be prepared to relocate and live in Sayo town, in an apartment arranged by the Board of Education.
・It is a clean and spacious semi-furnished room with a monthly rent of about ¥38,000 per month.

Conditions:
・Salary ranges from 230,000 – 260,000 monthly, depending on qualifications and experience.
・Transportation (petrol costs) will be covered at a rate of 15,000 per month.
・Monday to Friday. 8 hour shift with a 1 hour break between 8:15am and 5:15pm.
・Days off include weekends, National Holidays, and other holidays set on the Board of Education’s school calendar
