Language Lounge Facilitator

Teikyo Language Commons (Telaco) is a language support facility at the Teikyo University Hachioji Campus. We assist Teikyo University students in language learning by engaging them in natural conversations and introducing the foreign countries to them through educational and cultural events.

Facilitators are expected to support the speaking and listening skills of university students of all levels as well as participate in events designed to facilitate language learning through cultural immersion. As such, applicants are expected to:

-Possess excellent communication skills, both speaking and active listening
-Be able to lead a conversation on a variety of topics that students are interested in while being mindful of the multicultural environment
-Facilitate engaging group conversations with students of diverse language abilities
-Actively approach and converse with new students
-Adjust to the students’ levels and interests
-Be able to understand and participate in casual conversations in Japanese
-Preserve professionalism in an inherently casual environment
-Have a bright, out-going, and easy-to-approach demeanor
-We are especially looking for French, German, Spanish and Korean speakers

Please submit your application by March 4th. The application screening will occur up until the deadline. Applicants who pass the initial screening will be contacted for an interview.

*Please note that Teikyo Language Commons is open during the regular university semesters which are approximately April through July and late September through mid-January only.
