Students break into applause as the student finishes presenting their keynote presentation to the group in their Zoom classroom. After the student finishes sharing their screen, you ask the class, "Does anyone have any questions or comments?" Eager hands immediately shoot up on their video feed. Asking one of the first students to raise their hand, they comment, "I like the design of your title slide." Heads nod in agreement. You make a quick note about the 21st Century Skills that the students are displaying and transition the students to breakout rooms for group work.

Established in 1985, Tokyo International School Group (TISG) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS), Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG), and Tokyo International School Learning Through English (TISLTE) at our model school campuses.

TISAS is an after-school program that provides an immersion environment for non-native English-speaking children. TISAS Academic is an advanced program for students who have graduated from Grade 4 of the TISAS Program, or students who meet a high English language ability level. The objective of the course is to help students discover what their passion is, and provide opportunities to learn new ways to express their ideas. The students will develop their 21st Century Skills, essay writing, and presentation skills.

We currently run 4 classes: grade 5, grade 6, grade 7/8, and grade 9/10. All classes will be online and attend twice a week (currently Tuesdays and Thursdays). Grade 5 and grade 6 students attend class from 5 pm to 6.50 pm, while grade 7/8 and 9/10 students attend class from 7:10 pm to 9:00 pm. We have two teachers and they are each in charge of two grades. During the class, the students work on individual and group projects. Using iPads, the students produce presentations, book reports, and videos that provide information on various topics. The students also do a language arts focus and study graded readers as well as the vocabulary and grammar associated with their level.

In addition to the classes, the students have a 25-minute online tutorial once a week (currently Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays) with their teacher. The tutorial is done via Zoom. During the tutorial, the teacher assists the students with any questions related to class and homework, as well as practicing reading skills.

POSITION DETAILS
- We are currently looking for 1 teacher to join this program.
- The work hours for the teacher will be from 1 pm to 9 pm Tuesday to Friday and 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday.
- However, it must be mentioned that the Teacher is expected to put in the hours necessary to provide students with a learning experience of the highest possible quality.
- This position will transition to four days a week from home after the teacher completes probation and becomes familiar with the program.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
- We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher.
- Candidates must have a university degree and two years of experience (ideally working with elementary and junior high-school students in Japan).
- Candidates must have access to a quiet workspace, high-speed internet (when working remotely), work well independently and be tech proficient.

LOCATION
- The school is about a 10-minute walk from Shirokane Takanawa station on the Mita and Namboku subway lines.

START DATE
- Training will start on April 1st, 2022.

COMPENSATION
- The starting wage will be ¥272,500 per month.
- As this is a full-time position, enrollment in social insurance and pension is required.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
- TISG will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met.
- Candidates will be contacted to arrange Zoom web interviews.
- Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a trial lesson and second-round interview.
- Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications, and letters of reference.
- Once that final decision has been made TISG will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision.
- The successful candidate will meet with TISG to sign employment documentation.
