Canadian Academy is one of the most well-established international schools in Asia, established in 1913 and today welcoming over 650 students from around the world to its campus on Rokko Island.
We are seeking a SCHOOL BUS MONITOR who will be responsible for ensuring that students participating in the school bus program travel to and from campus in a calm and safe environment.
Classification: Hourly Part-Time Staff
Reporting to: Head of Operations & School Bus Supervisor
Working Hours:
Morning from pick-up by the school bus (circa 6:30am) to arrival at campus (circa 8:15am)
Afternoon from departure from CA campus (circa 3:35pm, 2:35pm on Wednesdays) to drop-off (circa 5:15pm, 4:15pm on Wednesdays)
On days when school is in session
Contract Period: September 1, 2024 – June 12, 2025
Miscellaneous:
Prior to their start date, all employees shall be required to furnish references to the school and complete child protection training, sign the school’s code of conduct, complete a pre-employment medical form, and undergo a criminal background check.
The employee will be asked to complete a daily timesheet, to be submitted and paid on the 25th of the following month.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Ensure that all students riding the bus are following the Rules and Expectations as follows – students are required to:
- Follow instructions provided by the bus monitor, driver, or other school personnel at all times.
- Remain seated with seat belts fastened at all times. Switching seats is not allowed.
- Refrain from loud or disruptive behavior that may distract the bus driver.
- Keep all body parts and personal objects inside the bus.
- Be respectful to all passengers and staff members.
- Refrain from eating or drinking on the bus or in the loading zone.
Support any students who may feel uncomfortable or unwell on the bus ride.
Maintain order in the bus, issue cautions to students who may be misbehaving, and, only when necessary, move students to different seats if and when it is safe to do so.
Take student attendance on each bus ride.
Communicate with families as required using the bus cell phone. In particular, students in Grade 2 and below must be picked up by a parent or caregiver at their bus stop in the afternoon. The bus monitor must contact the family if there is no one to collect them at the stop.
Report any concerns or issues to the Head of Operations for follow-up as appropriate with the school.
Check the status of the bus at the end of each ride, to ensure that no property or passengers are left behind, and to ensure the general order and cleanliness of the vehicle.
