**Job Description: Elementary School/Kindergarten Teacher**
**Aichi International School (AIS)** is seeking fully qualified teachers to join our esteemed elementary school and kindergarten faculty. While we prefer candidates already residing in Japan, we will also consider exceptional applicants from overseas.
**About the Position:**
Working at AIS means committing to helping children develop both academically and socially. Therefore, applicants must possess a valid teaching qualification/license covering all relevant subject areas and child development stages. Please note that this is not an "English teaching" position.
AIS is dedicated to upholding best practices in child protection, ensuring that all students feel safe from any form of physical or emotional harm, whether at school or at home. As part of our commitment, applicants will be required to provide character references.
**Required Credentials and Competencies:**
AIS is a WASC-accredited school offering a comprehensive kindergarten education and a bilingual elementary curriculum. We provide a unique opportunity and professional challenge for learner-focused and team-driven educators. Applicants must have a teaching qualification/license that covers all appropriate subject areas and child development stages necessary for teaching at the elementary school level.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Believe in and actively support the mission, goals, and learner outcomes of AIS.
- Can monitor children’s interactions and foster an environment of safety, cooperation, and sharing.
- Are capable of designing and following a comprehensive teaching plan in line with curriculum maps and textbooks.
- Teach subjects equitably to all students in accordance with the current curricula at AIS, while also guiding age-appropriate personal, social, and emotional skills.
- Can organize learning materials and resources, employing a variety of activities and instructional methods to engage and stimulate students of all abilities.
- Regularly assess students’ performance and progression to ensure they are mastering expected skills, while maintaining accurate and timely student achievement records.
- Maintain open communication with parents, providing relevant information, and cooperate effectively with other teachers and administrative staff.
- Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations.
- Uphold the integrity of a professional teacher in accordance with AIS employee ethics and WASC accreditation standards.
- Build trust and positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Serve as a role model for appropriate behavior.
- Work cooperatively as part of the teaching staff, fostering a team environment through personal conduct, contributions, and sharing of expertise.
- Exhibit energy, resilience, and maintain a sense of humor, especially when facing challenges.
- Demonstrate strong personal initiative, planning, and organizational skills.
- Commit to ongoing personal and professional development in related areas.
**Working Hours:**
- Monday to Friday, 8:00-17:00
- Approximately 220 working days, including 195 student contact days
- One-month unpaid vacation during summer
- After six months of continuous service, staff are entitled to 10 annual discretionary days (which increment every 12 months thereafter).
**Location:**
- Nijigaoka 3-4, Meito-ku, Nagoya
- (10-minute walk from Hoshigaoka station on the Higashiyama subway line)
**Remuneration:**
- New qualified teachers are paid on a salary scale ranging from ¥300,000 - ¥350,000, depending on years of teaching experience.
- Additional payments for monthly diligence and daily transportation fees are available.
- A completion payment based on the length of the contract is also provided.
- The employer contributes equally to health and employment insurances and the pension plan.
