Requirements:
・valid and current teaching qualifications and credentials related to the responsibilities of the position
・bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline・outstanding references as a teacher for English language learner
・minimum of 2-year teaching experience;

・Have IB teaching experience, in particular with PYP classes.
・Have completed a category 1 workshop in IB PYP.
・Have professional experience working with students whose first language is not English.
・Have some degree of Japanese language proficiency, though this is not required for the position.
Description:
Doshisha International Academy Elementary School (DIAES) is an Article 1 Japanese elementary school that is authorized to offer the Japanese national curriculum in a bilingual manner (both Japanese and English as languages of instruction). The school is also an accredited IB World school, authorized to offer the PYP.
The successful applicant will be K-6 trained and teach Mathematics, Science and Social Studies content in English, in addition to teaching English classes. In addition, the applicant may be required to also teach Physical Education and Art content in English. DIAES`s program is modeled on the practices of the IB Primary Years Program, and so experience in the IB PYP is an asset.
The position is a demanding one and the successful applicant will demonstrate commitment and passion towards meeting the responsibilities of the position. The position is for an April 2020 start; however, a July/August start date may be considered in the event that an outstanding applicant is identified.
