Description

Established in 1985, Tokyo International School Group (TISG) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS), Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG) and Tokyo International School Learning Through English (TISLTE) at our Nakameguro, Minami Azabu, Komazawa, and Toritsudai model school campuses in Tokyo. We also have franchise campuses based in Kachidoki (Chuo-ku), Maruyama (Sapporo), Nishinomiya (Hyogo), and Chuo-ku (Fukuoka).

In April 2018, TISG started a new partnership with a company called Human Academy to run a set of schools under the heading of Hiraku Kids. These schools use a program called EIP (English Immersion Program) as well as a program called LTE (Learning Through English). The school is open from Tuesday to Saturday and caters to first to fourth-grade elementary students.

EIP classes run from Tuesday to Friday. Classes are conducted between 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. The first 2-hour block is called See, Hear and Wonder Time and is a guided play and homework time. Between 4 pm and 7 pm, we have 2 separate 90-minute classes with each class having two sections: Language Strategies and Course time. Language Strategies is a language arts focus that uses a third party curriculum called Reading A to Z. The Course Time is different each day: Tuesday is Art Adventure, Wednesday is Makers, Thursday is Our World, and Friday is Kids Force. Classes are separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 16.

The LTE classes, held on Saturdays, are once a week classes that are 90 minutes in length, with three class time slots in the day. Our LTE classes are open to children aged between 4 and 11 years of age with classes separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 16.

POSITION DETAILS: The workweek is Tuesday to Saturday. Paid vacation days are every Sunday and Monday, public holidays, one week during summer, two weeks in winter, and five days of flexible leave. The daily work schedule is 11:30 am to 7:30 pm Tuesday to Friday, and 9:15 am to 5:15 pm on Saturday, but it must be mentioned that the Teacher is expected to put in the hours necessary to provide students with a learning experience of the highest possible quality.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree and two years of experience (ideally working with elementary students in Japan).

LOCATION: The school is located near Minato Mirai station on the Minatomirai Line.

START DATE: April 1st, 2020.

COMPENSATION: The wage will be 280,000 per month plus social insurance and pension. Transportation will be reimbursed up to 50,000 per month.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS: We will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates will be contacted from early January to arrange face-to-face interviews at our Meguro HQ, or Skype web-interviews for those who live outside Tokyo. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications and letters of reference. Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a second round of interviews, which will include a trial lesson. At the completion of the second round interviews, a decision will be made. Once that final decision has been made we will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will then meet with us again to sign employment documentation.

We look forward to receiving your application.
