Description

Marist Brothers International School (MBIS) in Kobe is looking for a full-time kindergarten/Montessori teacher or a grade one teaching assistant for August 2021 start.

Please provide a cover letter and indicate which position you are interested in. Applicants with qualifications will be given preference in hiring, only one position is available for the August 2021 start.

Montessori/kindergarten teacher: The successful applicant will hold an early childhood teaching license which allows them to teach in public schools in their own country while also having experience teaching at international school and/or in their own country. The ideal applicant will additionally have experience in a Montessori setting and/or Montessori teaching qualifications.

Teaching assistant, grade one: The successful applicant will have experience teaching/assisting in an international school at a lower grade level. The ideal applicant would be a qualified teacher, possibly newly qualified, with interest in moving into a full homeroom teacher position or ELL support position in future years.

The school year starts in August and teaching is scheduled for 180 days with additional days required for professional development; salary is paid equally over 12 months. Position 1 will be paid at the higher end of the salary scale and requires a more experienced qualified teacher. Position 2 is paid at the lower end of the salary scale and could be of interest to someone newer to international school teaching. Both positions enjoy access to the school insurance/pension plan. Both positions have access to a professional development training budget. There is a generous vacation allowance. Relocation assistance is available within Japan.

To apply for either position, please send a cover letter explaining which position you are applying for, what you would uniquely bring to the position, and why you would specifically like to work at MBIS, alongside your Gaijinpot resume. Applicants failing to provide a detailed cover letter will not be contacted.
