Description

Your Duties:
- Proofreading localization of Japanese websites, social media, and smartphone apps
- Copywriting for different IT-related products
- Researching similar services UI in order to be able to explain your localization choices to the client
- Discussing localization with the client (mainly over written text, in Japanese)
- Proofreading manga translations (both before and after typesetting)
- Writing/editing original short articles based on anime/gaming trends
- Writing/editing captions for social media promotion of anime-related goods
- Creation of translation guidelines (for in-house purposes)


Requirements:
- Have at least 2 years of experience in localizing JA-EN
- Speak Japanese at N2 level or above (to be verified during the interview, you don't need to have taken the exam)
- Be a native English speaker with an understanding of the cultural/language differences between Japanese and Western culture
- Be able to translate and edit text applying existing guidelines and come up with updates for them
- Can compare various similar web services and spot what each pros and cons are
- Interest in social media platforms and their communities is a plus (Twitter, Twitch, Facebook, DeviantArt, etc.)
- Being able to use Photoshop/ClipStudio is a plus
- Interest in the anime/otaku culture is a plus, a basic understanding of the culture is required
- UIUX study background is a plus


Preferred Personality:
- Is used to working 8 hours in front of a computer
- Can to bond with co-workers even when they are entirely working remote
- Can work remotely, communicating via chat or call (Slack)
- Has attention to details such as minor punctuation mistakes, etc.
- Can multitask, switching between translations requiring a different tone, and translation-related tasks

About the Application:
1. After the first screening, you will be asked to do a translation/proofreading test online. You will be given about a week to complete the test, which should not take you more than 45 minutes. Only those who have passed the test will proceed to phase 2.
2. First interview with HR, online.
3. Second interview with the team leader, online.
4. Final interview with the CEO, at the office in Ikebukuro.
