As Amazon Web Services (AWS) continues to build upon the world’s largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure, we need Decommission Technicians to ensure we create the capacity required for our highly reliable, scalable, low-cost physical infrastructure that powers businesses and individuals all around the world, connecting our customers to their customers.

*About the Role*
The Decommission Team is a part of the Infrastructure Operations Team, the backbone of AWS that supports our rapidly growing AWS business and customers. As AWS grows, we strive to grow our own talent. This is a unique, entry-level opportunity where you will receive comprehensive training and work with colleagues from Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00, in some of the most innovative data centers in the world. In Amazon’s mission to be Earth’s most customer-centric company, Amazon Data Centers take customer data with the utmost importance. The Decommission Team ensures customer data is sanitized as they liquidate and prepare legacy equipment for data center removal.

*Key Job Responsibilities*
Adhere to safety and security best practices in the data center
Decommission and process legacy hardware out of the data center facilities
Utilize a web ticketing system and other dedicated tools
Remove and destroy media
Disconnect network uplinks
Create reports and documenting procedures
Safely and securely manage and dispose of E-waste
Support and build relationships with various data center teams
Travel between different Tokyo areas to work at various data centers

【BASIC QUALIFICATIONS】
* Able to follow workplace safety and security policies
* Ability to perform physical tasks (Climbing ladders, moving equipment, bending, lifting. etc.)
*Basic understanding of IT hardware and components: - HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage media - Ram/CPU/Motherboard/Input-Output devices - UTP cable/Fiber Optic cable – Switches
*English verbal and in written communication ability
*Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer literacy

【PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS】
*English and Japanese verbal and in written communication ability
*Working with minimal supervision, with great attention to detail and maintaining high quality standards
*Experience with ticket tracking, prioritization, and escalation procedures
*Working experience on IT equipment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, building computers, troubleshooting PC/Desktops/Laptops/Switches/Links)
*Working experience in a high security environment
