Description

The Environment Health and Safety Manager-Japan (EHS Manager-Japan) will inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry best standard within the Japan region. The EHS Manager-Japan analyse data, develop related to EHS processes/programs, and implement with internal stakeholder assistance, to ensure the achievement of global and area EHS goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

The Essential Functions Include:
    1. Represent Pinkerton's core values of integrity, vigilance, and excellence.
    2. Understanding and analysing EHS data and information (e.g. EHS laws, regulations, benchmarking studies, industry best practices) and develop and implement strategies to achieve global and area level EHS goals and program objectives in corporate offices in Japan or assigned area.
    3. Partner with stakeholders (Security, Facilities, HR, Workers Comp, etc.) to ensure information on EHS polices are communicated, implemented and executed upon among employees, vendors and third-party contractors.
    4. Manage injury/illness and incident management processes.
    5. Conducting risk assessments of Client's existing portfolio of corporate offices, identifying sources of EHS risk, and developing remediation and mitigation plans.
    6. Assisting in the response to emergencies and significant disruptive events impacting corporate office buildings.
    7. Develop processes and procedures related to EHS for Japan whenever needed.
    8. EHS support in both new fit-outs and refurbishment projects.
    9. All other duties, as assigned.
 
Minimum Hiring Standards
Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.
     * Must have Advanced Level Exams or equivalent qualification.
     * Must be willing to participate in the Company's pre-employment screening process including drug testing and/or background investigation.
     * Must be at least 18 years of age.
     * Must have a reliable means of communication (i.e., email, cell phone).
     * Must have a reliable means of transportation (public or private).
     * Must have the legal right to work in Japan.
     * Must have the ability to speak, read, and write Japanese and English.
 
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or EHS with a minimum of five years of Environment, Health and Safety experience within chemical or pharmaceutical industries is preferred. Must be authorized to work in Japan and also have proficiency to read, write and speak English and Japanese.
 
Competencies
     * Knowledge of emergency preparedness and management in commercial facilities.
     * Bi-lingual skills; English and Japanese required (spoken and written).
     * Should have experience in managing the following programs: Fall Hazard Control, Electrical Safe Work, Hazardous Energy Control (LOTO), Machine Safeguarding, Confined Spaces, Hot Work and System Impairment, and/or Fire Protection Systems.
     * Work experience in a multinational organization is an added advantage.
     * Able to build strong relationships and positively influence decision making.
     * Self-starter and innovative in delivering value added EHS programs.
     * Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
     * Able to work in a fast-paced environment under multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
     * Serve as an effective and positive team member.
     * Computer skills; Microsoft Office.
