Description

Looking for English teaching work in western Tokyo? We may have an opportunity for you!

Borderlink is currently seeking Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) for elementary and junior high school positions throughout the beautiful Tama Area, starting in early April. These positions provide experience working at both elementary and/or junior high school levels, and are perfect for those seeking to further their teaching careers in a unique, exciting area. ALTs will be provided a yearly calendar which will help manage their other commitments.

As an ALT, you would be responsible for co-teaching with Japanese teachers, making activities and materials to facilitate English language instruction. You will also make the language "real" by interacting with students throughout the day to help them actively apply what they learn in class. The ideal candidate is flexible with their teaching style and wants to make a positive impact on the lives of the students.

--Daily Positions Also Available!--

Interested in working in this area, but looking to leave some days open for your other commitments? No problem! We are also offering daily positions at a range between 12,000~14,000 yen a day. Please inquire when applying to this ad.

--About West Tokyo, Tama Area--

The westernmost part of Tokyo (also known as the Tama Area), while still a part of the greater Tokyo area, offers a more suburban feel and relaxed atmosphere while still maintaining the conveniences of big city life. Rent prices tend to be lower than what one would find in the 23 wards, making this a great place to live as well as work. Commuting to central Tokyo via the Keio and JR Chuo line is easy and fast, with Shinjuku being less than an hour away. There are also many urban centers nearby, such as Machida and Tachikawa. Among the things you can enjoy in this area include:

-Mount Takao & Mount Jinba (popular hiking destinations accessible by train/bus)
-Sanrio Puroland (amusement park of the popular Sanrio characters)
-Tama Zoological Park (zoo boasting large areas for the animals and a more "natural" feel)
-Yakuou-in (mountainside Buddhist temple)
-Tama Forest Science Garden (expansive botanical park)
-Tokyo Fuji Art Museum (museum with a collection of about 30,000 works)
-Hachioji Castle ruins (remains of an ancient castle once said to be haunted!)

Plus year-round festivals, parks, and other sites of interest like the velodrome used in the 1964 Summer Olympics. As well as being a great place to work, it's a great place to live and explore.
