Established in 1985, Tokyo International School Group (TISG) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS), Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG) and Tokyo International School Learning Through English (TISLTE) at our Nakameguro and Minami Azabu model school campuses in Tokyo. We also have franchise campuses based in Kachidoki (Chuo-ku), Maruyama (Sapporo), Nishinomiya (Hyogo), Chuo-ku (Fukuoka), Oimachi (Shinagawa) and Minato Mirai (Yokohama).
TISAS is an after-school program that provides an immersion environment (children must attend at least 3 days per week) for non-native English speaking children. Students attend classes from 2 pm until 7 pm (the students arrive anytime between 2 pm and 4 pm). The first 2-hour block is called See, Hear and Wonder Time and is a guided play and homework time. Between 4 pm and 7 pm, we have 5 focused study blocks: Circle Time, Kinesthetic, Story Telling, Language Strategies, and Course Time. The Course Time is different each day: Monday is Our World, Tuesday is Art, Wednesday is Makers, Thursday is Fantastic Food, and Friday is Kids Force. Classes are separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 18.
We are currently looking to hire a Teacher who will join a team of four other full-time Afterschool teachers at the Kachidoki campus from April 1st, 2019.
POSITION DETAILS: The work week is Monday to Friday. Paid vacation days are every Saturday and Sunday, public holidays, one week during summer, two weeks in winter, and five days of flexible leave. The daily work schedule is 11:00 am to 20:00 pm, but it must be mentioned that the Teacher is expected to put in the hours necessary to provide students with a learning experience of the highest possible quality.
IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree and two years experience (ideally working with elementary students in Japan). Some management experience is preferable.
LOCATION: The school is located near Kachidoki station on the Oedo line.
START DATE: April 1st, 2019.
COMPENSATION: The starting wage will be 300,000. The first three months will be a probation period. Participation in the Social Insurance and Pension scheme is required (company contributions are made on top of the stated wage level with teacher contributions being deducted from the wage). The monthly transportation reimbursement amount is negotiable.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS: TISG is providing a recruitment service for Global Academy (GA). TISG will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates will be contacted to arrange face-to-face interviews at our Nakameguro HQ or Skype web-interviews for those who live outside Tokyo. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications and letters of reference. Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a second round of interviews, which will include a trial lesson. These second round interviews will be conducted with GA staff, and GA will then make the final decision. Once that final decision has been made TISG will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will meet with GA to sign employment documentation.
We look forward to receiving your application.
