Description

Are you our shipbroker of tomorrow?

JUNIOR SHIPBROKER – TOKYO

Maersk Broker Asia Limited are looking for a Junior Shipbroker who has a strong desire to become a successful globetrotting shipbroker.

We offer a dynamic and inspiring environment which facilitates individuals with the commercial capabilities to generate profitable results, powered by the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.

As shipbrokers we work hard and we play hard. Ship broking is a 24/7 job where we are constantly taking care of our clients' interests and help to guide them towards the most lucrative and secure business; we keep a constant eye on our markets and using our network of offices and our research teams we have a reliable and accurate opinion of market movements and macro economics. Ship broking, however, is not a typical desk bound job, client meetings and a healthy work/life balance are critical to keeping our brokers engaged.

While base salaries are dependent on experience and ability, our successful brokers may also be rewarded on an annual individual performance bonus.

Ship broking is not a profession that can be learned in a matter of weeks, our established brokers are constantly evolving alongside the ever changing shipping markets (dry cargo, sale and purchase, new buildings, container ships, off shore, etc.). We expect a trainee or a junior broker to work hard to learn the basics of the industry while being guided by our senior brokers alongside our comprehensive in-house training scheme, typically it will take a year to have a proficient understanding of markets.

Requirements:
- The preferred candidate should hold a commercial degree from a recognized university and has a high proficiency in both spoken and written English.
- The individual must be extrovert, entrepreneurial and independent.
- The right candidate should have at least 1-2 years’ working experience; preferably gained in the shipping industry.
- Above all, when selecting the candidates emphasis will be on a keen commercial sense and a strong will to succeed in a competitive environment.
- We will proceed with those candidates with a valid work or residence permit.

We will be conducting on-going screening and interviews - kindly send your application!
