Position

As a Broadcast Coordinator you will play a vital role in ensuring the overall success of BBC World News Japan. Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be part of the team responsible for the Japanese versioning of live news and current affairs programming as well as Video On Demand and other video streaming projects.

Responsibilities

• Day to day running of Japanese studio in Tokyo
• Monitoring Japanese audio and subtitle output
• Investigating and reporting on broadcast issues
• Operating broadcast systems for playout automation and subtitling
• Rota organisation and staff coordination
• Out of hours response is required

Personal Skills

• Excellent organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
• Superb attention to detail
• Punctual and able to manage own time
• Ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines essential
• Confident and pro-active
• Japanese / English language ability (both at least business level)

Knowledge and Experience

• The ability to work well under pressure using your own initiative
• Previous broadcast experience would be an advantage
• Competent with Mac, PC, Microsoft Word and Excel

Working Hours: 40 hours per week on a rotational shift pattern. includes occasional weekend shifts.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
