KIA is committed to valuing students' safeguarding and well-being. We expect all employees and volunteers are expected to share the same commitment. By applying, you are confirming that you have never harmed or been accused of any wrongdoing involving children. Successful candidates will be required to undergo relevant background checks.

Kansai International Academy is currently looking to employ several educators for the role of full-time specialist teachers across a number of grades.

We invite candidates who are serious about bringing their area of expertise to the students and enabling their participation in all areas of school life as well as promoting full access to the KIA curriculum. Preference will be given to those professionals who have teaching and collaborative planning experience, have worked on curriculum development, have an awareness and desire to work within the inquiry-based International Baccalaureate (IB) education framework, and who have a clear understanding of and proven ability to address the needs of Japanese learners of English. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be highly personable and adaptable, having strong problem-solving skills with a clear record of educational success in the classroom.

The Specialists teacher’s role entails the following responsibilities:
- Participate actively in grade-level planning meetings and plan collaboratively with homeroom teachers (including developing learning objectives and formative and summative assessments).
- Ensure a positive learning atmosphere and an inquiry-based approach to lessons as much as possible.
- Create a classroom that is a safe space to experiment with language for all students while expressing their identities and ideas.
- Ensure students have sufficient opportunities to apply and reflect upon their language learning.
- Utilize scaffolding techniques and differentiate class content and homework to support students who require additional language support.

Teaching certification at minimum.
Experience working with young children.

NOTE:
Due to the large number of applications we receive, we will only contact applicants deemed suitable for an interview. Make sure your cover letter is addressed specifically to Kansai International Academy and includes why you would like to work at our school and how you think your skills and experience could add to our academic environment.

This is not an entry-level job and positions are extremely competitive. Having numerous years of ESL teaching experience or being multicultural will not be enough to warrant an interview. Please give some specific references to our educational environment, philosophies, and approaches based on the information from our website, and let us know how you would fit into our team.
