AtoZ is currently looking for ALTs (Assistant Language Teachers) at public schools in Nagano Prefecture.
ALTs play a critical role in motivating students to learn English and assisting Japanese teachers. Especially for students living in a rural area like Nagano Prefecture, who have few opportunities to interact with people from other countries, time spent with ALTs is a very valuable experience.
Contract period:
・November 2024 - March 2025. (Candidates currently living in Japan)
・April 2025 - March 2026. (Applications from abroad will also be accepted)
*Employment contract period may be renewed.
Requirements:
• Graduated with a bachelor’s degree
• Relocation to Nagano prefecture
• Be able to fulfill a contract period
• Valid Japanese driver’s license or a valid International Driving Permit (IDP)
at the start of employment (Preferable)
What we expect from you:
• Willingness to encourage Japanese students to enjoy studying English.
• Be able to speak conversational Japanese (Preferable)
• Have taught Japanese students (Preferable)
• Hold TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate (Preferable)
Key responsibilities:
• Be friendly and proactive
• Be able to cooperate with JTE (Japanese Teacher of English) to make classes
• Preparing and performing English classes
• Developing students' communication skills for speech and presentation
• Promoting international understanding among students
• Conducting and scoring English language proficiency tests
• Leading special and extracurricular projects, such as English Camp and debate competition
• Analysis of classes, evaluation and knowledge sharing of teaching methods
• Cross-cultural lectures and language training for Japanese English teachers
Conditions of employment:
- Salary 2,470,000 yen –3,000,000 yen/year
Working days and hours:
- Monday to Friday 8:15 am - 4:45 pm (Break: 45-60 minutes) *Depending on school
- School holidays: Summer and winter (Paid)
