Description

Established in 1985, Tokyo International School Group (TISG) runs Tokyo International School Afterschool (TISAS), Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TISKG) and Tokyo International School Learning Through English (TISLTE) at our Nakameguro, Minami Azabu, Komazawa and Toritsudai model school campuses in Tokyo. We also have franchise campuses based in Kachidoki (Chuo-ku), Yamanashi, Maruyama (Sapporo), Shukugawa (Kobe), and Ohori (Fukuoka).

We are currently looking to hire a Teacher who will join our team at our Toritsudai model school campus from the 1st of April, 2021. The Toritsudai campus runs a Tuesday to Saturday schedule which is a combination of our Afterschool program (from Tuesday to Friday) and our LTE program (on Saturday).

TISAS is an after-school program that provides an immersion environment (children must attend at least 3 days per week) for non-native English speaking children. Students attend classes from 2 pm until 7 pm (the students arrive anytime between 2 pm and 4 pm). The first 2-hour block is called See, Hear and Wonder Time and is a guided play and homework time. Between 4 pm and 7 pm, we have 5 focused study blocks: Circle Time, Kinesthetic, Story Telling, Language Strategies, and Course Time. The Course Time is different each day: Tuesday is Art, Wednesday is Music, Thursday is Our World, and Friday is Kids Force. Classes are separated by age group and the maximum number of students per class is 16.

The TISLTE Saturday program provides classes once per week of 180 minutes in length. Students are placed in classes based on their age with the program open to kindergarten and elementary-aged students.

POSITION DETAILS: The workweek is from Tuesday to Saturday. Paid vacation days are every Sunday and Monday, public holidays, one week during Obon in summer, two weeks in winter, and five days of flexible leave. The daily work schedule is 11:30 am to 19:30 pm during the weekdays and 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on Saturday, but it must be mentioned that the Teacher is expected to put in the hours necessary to provide students with a learning experience of the highest possible quality.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: We are looking for a confident, dedicated, and passionate teacher. Candidates must have a university degree and two years of experience (ideally working with elementary students in Japan).

LOCATION: The school is located 2 minutes walk from Toritsudai station on the Toyoko and Meguro lines.

START DATE: April 1st 2021.

TRAINING: Initial training will be on April 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th. During the year there are 4 compulsory Sunday training days (currently scheduled for April 25th, May 30th, August 29th, and November 28th).

COMPENSATION: The first three months is a probation period and the wage will be 280,000 per month. Following probation, the wage will be 300,000 per month. Transportation will be reimbursed up to 15,000 per month.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS: We will screen resumes to check that minimum requirements are met. Candidates will be contacted to arrange face-to-face interviews at our Meguro HQ or Skype web-interviews for those who live outside Tokyo. Candidates will be asked to bring with them their residence cards, passports, copies of qualifications, and letters of reference. Following the first round of interviews candidates will be short-listed for a second round of interviews, which will include a trial lesson. At the completion of the second round interviews, a decision will be made. Once that final decision has been made we will contact all candidates to inform them of the decision. The successful candidate will then meet with us again to sign employment documentation.

We look forward to receiving your application.
