Description

Atlanta English School (アトランタ英会話スクール) in Nagoya, Meito-Ward, is looking for experienced teachers to start in April 2023. K-12 certification and CELTA holders are encouraged to apply.

Position title: K-12 EFL Instructor (Full-time)

Contract: One year (first contract); longer contracts available upon renewal

Positions available: 1-2

Short description: Join a team of four full-timers as a K-12 English as a Foreign Language teacher with some adult lessons; 3-minute walk from Fujigaoka Station (Higashiyama Line, 30 mins from Nagoya Station)

Work time: 13:00-21:20 (typically 5 hrs of teaching time with a 50-minute break) on weekdays & 9:15-17:20 on weekends; 50-minute break; Sun & Mon off except for some seasonal work. All lessons are 50 minutes or shorter.

13:00-13:15 Meeting
13:30/14:30 Planning time (Sometimes have an adult 1:1 or 1:2 lesson here)
15:30: K-6 lesson
16:30 break
17:30 K-6 lesson
18:30 K-12 lesson
19:30 K-12 / adult lesson
20:30 Planning/prep or adult lesson
21:20 Finish

Typical Saturday:
9:15 Arrival
9:30/10:30/11:30 K-12 or adult lesson
12:30 break
13:30/14:30/15:30/16:30 K-12 or adult lesson
17:20 Finish

Special days in the year:
Seasonal Parties (Summer festival & Christmas); two Sundays, 9:15-12:30
Seasonal community events (Early Bird Marché; making crafts); two Sundays, 8:15-12:15
Others: One school cleaning days (Sunday, 4 hours) & one training day (Sunday or Monday, 4 hours)


Details: 25 to 35, 50-minute lessons per week; 75% of students are K-12; mostly small group lessons (2-5 kids) based on age/ability and 1:1 private lessons; (10% of K-12 are returnees with native English skills); some online lessons; some adult lessons.

Curriculum: National Geographic Our World (Cengage) and others; literature course (for returnees); and various in-house curricula focusing on EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and ESP (English for Specific Purposes) for older kids and adults.


Starting salary: ¥265,000 per month; three-month trial period; potential yearly profit sharing bonuses; possible salary increase with next contract based on performance.


Time off: one week (Golden Week), two weeks (Summer), two weeks (Winter). Five (5) personal days. All Sundays and Mondays off.

Exceptions: Six (6) additional Sundays or Mondays (1/2 day) for special events (parties, training, cleaning) throughout the year. *Calendar provided with specific dates/times in April.

Transportation paid up to ¥15,000/month.

Nominal relocation allowance provided and will assist in arranging an apartment, if needed.


Timeline:
