Description

Learning Tree International School is located in Tokyo, Japan. We teach students from ages 2-12 years old.

Teaching at Learning Tree requires a valid teaching license or equivalent experience. We provide professional development opportunities for our staff interested in pursuing higher education; many current staff members have received their teaching certification while working with us. We support teachers attaining a teaching license from the United States.

The job details are as follows:
We are looking for candidates interested in working at a dynamic school set in the center of one of the coolest cities in the world, Tokyo, Japan. Our teachers have the flexibility and freedom to help shape our evolving curriculum and the support of school administrators to become familiar with our existing systems and methodologies.

Candidates should be warm, active, and energetic to captivate and bond with the students. We are looking for available candidates to begin training as soon as possible.

Our current available position is for an experienced teacher who enjoys teaching preschool students. Our teachers are passionate about challenging their students developmentally while ensuring that the class is fun and engaging enough to foster a love of learning.

Main classroom teachers are in charge of their students' complete academic and social development; they should be experienced, responsible, and professional.

We aim to support and nurture our students to be active members of their community who aspire to achieve their full potential. Our goal is for our students to understand the diverse world around them while remaining grounded in their cultural values at home.

The pre-kinder morning program: students in these classes are taking the first steps toward bilingualism and biculturalism. Main classroom teachers work alongside assistant teachers to provide exciting learning opportunities in an English immersion environment. In the Pre-Kinder Morning program, we cover a variety of science, and social studies-themed topics, as well as math, phonics, reading, writing, speaking, P.E., arts and crafts, hula dance, and music. Our Afterschool program is loosely based on the morning program syllabus as well.

The pre-kinder afterschool program: this program loosely follows the pre-kinder Speaking, Reading, and Writing curriculums. Students practice and explore the English language and various topics through speaking, reading, and writing activities. These classes are fun and engaging for our students. and focus on improving their overall language skills.

Work hours are:
- Mon-Fri 9:05 am-6:05 pm (9:05 am-9:45 am Preparation time / 9:45 am-1:45 pm PreKinder / 2:00 pm-3:00 pm Break time / 3:00 pm-6:00 pm Pre-K Afterschool Program)

Other Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
-Attending Staff meetings
-Communicating with teachers, administration, management, and parents
-Conducting tests and recording the data from those tests
-Writing report cards
-Being prepared and organized for each lesson.
-Following the School Curriculum to conduct engaging lessons suited to the student's level
-Participating in school events such as sports day, luau party, or the end-of-year concert

Salary:
The starting salary for Main Pre-K and Afterschool Teachers is 200,000yen and can increase to upwards of 280,000yen.

Paid Holidays:
1 week Spring
1 week Golden Week
2 weeks in Summer,
1 week Fall
2 weeks Winter
5 sick days
