Description

Position title: IB Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator

Reports to: Principal

Main Purpose: implement and manage programme delivery and provide pedagogical leadership for the Preparation Year Programme for the IB Diploma as well as for the IB Diploma itself.

Job Description

Key tasks 1
Manage the IB Diploma authorisation process as IB Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator
Expected results 1
• Liaison occurs with the IBO regional office
• The Principal is kept informed of IBO authorisation requirements
• Parents and students are informed about the IB Diploma programme
• Teachers are kept abreast of IB Standards and Practices in the development of their curricula
• Administrative requirements are met in a timely manner
• Staff have access to the MYIB for online curriculum development

Key tasks 2
Manage staff to ensure effective programme delivery
Expected results 2
• Assessment and reporting are developed and managed
• Programme schedules and timetables are prepared to facilitate efficient delivery
• External agency (e.g. IBO, MEXT) requirements are met, especially with respect to IB Diploma Coordinator tasks
• Quality control measures are implemented in accordance with IBO Standards and Practices
• Analyses and reports are made for the Principal on student individual and group academic results which include comparisons with the previous term and previous year
• HOD’s departmental action plans, based on the previous year’s IBDP results, are developed and implemented
• HOD’s meetings are scheduled, chaired and minuted to ensure effective communication
• Termly student Action Planning administration is carried out
• Subject selection for new and returning students is managed
• All necessary tasks related to the IB Coordinator’s responsibilities are completed: IB results management; IB Statistics generation; IBO EURs (Enquiry Upon Results: re-marks); Student Registration for IB Diploma exams; Internal Assessment administration; Internal Assessment/Predicted Grade entries; IB Diploma examinations administration; and all other IB Diploma related tasks
• All internal and external examinations and re-take examinations are organised and managed
• IBO 5 Year Review and Self-study is managed and completed

Manage teaching effectiveness
Expected results 3
• The HOD appraisal process is managed effectively
• Student feedback surveys are analysed and followed up where necessary in liaison with the Principal
• Staff professional development is facilitated, managed and recorded in liaison with the Principal
• Student responsibility for maintain clean and tidy classrooms is enforced

Key tasks 4
Ensure that staff assess, monitor and record student progress
Expected results 4
• The academic calendar is managed in liaison with senior management
• Assessment is used as part of the learning process
• Reporting of student results is efficient and understandable to the student.
• Student reports are organised in conjunction with the relevant Dean

Key tasks 5
Ensure that staff guide and support students
Expected results 5
• Extended Essay, TOK and CAS Co-ordination are managed effectively
• The Grade 10 research project is conducted successfully
• Parents evenings are organised effectively

Key tasks 6
Provide information and guidance to students in the selection of subject choices
Expected results 6
• IB Diploma subject selection guidance is provided in liaison with university counsellors
• The timetabling schedule takes into account student subject choices as well as concurrency of learning
• Course information booklets for students and parents are produced in conjunction with the Principal

• Appraisal is participated in as required by policies
• Changes are made in response to feedback from students and peers
• Professional development activities are actively engaged in to remain current with developments in the International Baccalaureate programme

• High standards of personal presentation are maintained
• Cooperation with other staff is demonstrated
• Parents and caregivers are communicated with in a professional manner
• Quality management system policies and procedures are complied with
• Administrative tasks are completed efficiently
• Meetings are attended as required
• Concerns are raised in-house
• Additional delegations and responsibilities are carried out as negotiated
• Contribution is made to the broader life of the college including, in the case of IB programmes, to IB CAS activities
