Description

We're looking for independent, self-motivated individuals who have a positive attitude and love to be around children. This position is for native English speakers, who will interact with the students using English only. The teacher will rotate among different age groups, ranging from infants to elementary students (0-9 years old).

Daily work consists of teaching classroom English lessons, leading experience-based activities, and assisting with general childcare. Teachers are responsible for preparing age and skill appropriate English lessons, planning a curriculum for their students, and creating teaching materials. Playing enthusiastically with the kids and participating in special events are also important parts of this job.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching or working with children. A degree in early childhood education or TEFL/TESOL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification is highly desirable. The candidate’s first language must be English. Some level of Japanese language proficiency is beneficial, but not required.

Preference will be given to those who are currently living in Japan, but we encourage applications from overseas individuals who have a bachelor’s degree. This job is located in historic Kyoto City, with easy access to its numerous World Heritage Sites.

Normal workdays are five days a week including recurring work on Saturdays for events and seasonal activities. All Sundays and national holidays are non-work days in principle. Teachers will have a break for the year-end and New Year. This is a part-time job for 20-30 daytime shift hours per week (regular hours will be decided upon discussion with the candidate), and will be offered on a one-year contractual basis with the possibility of renewal for multiple years.

Benefits include 10 days of paid vacation, reimbursement of commuting costs, and company contributions to employment insurance. We also offer a progressive pay raise system.

The starting date is April 1st, 2020. We look forward to learning more about you, so please submit a cover letter when applying for this position.
