Description

Junior High School ALT

Salary: 3.4M yen first year and 3.6M yen subsequent years.

Vacation: Paid holiday during winter and spring vacation as well as five days over summer. There are a further 11 days holiday you can allocate as needed.

Location: Yamanashi City is a stones throw from Japan's best wineries and not more than an hour by car from Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. This is a great place for outdoor sports. Besides the Fuji area you should check out Yatsugatake, Mizugatake or The Minami Alps. Despite this, if you miss the noise and excitement of the city Shinjuku is less than an hour and a half away by train.

You don't have to travel, of course, and the town itself offers some great views especially during peach blossom season.

Work : In a typical week you can expect to be scheduled for 15 classes:

1st grade (6 classes)
2nd grade (3 classes)
3rd grade (3 classes)
Special Ed. (3 classes)

Each grade is supervised by a different Japanese teacher, and they will ask you to prepare materials as required. These requests can be as simple as providing classroom support, or as complex as solo teaching a designated topic.

This job would suit someone with good interpersonal skills. You will be in constant contact with office staff, and students, as well as your supervisors. You don't need to be great at Japanese, but an approachable demeanor will go a long way. This is an unpretentious farming community, so there's less formality than in many other schools, but the ability to work hard, when necessary, is highly valued.

If your are responsible, curious, and moderately creative, you will find this a very welcoming work environment.

We hope this sounds interesting to you, and look forward to your application.
