Description

Substitute position: April 6, 2020* - June 12, 2020
(*or as soon as possible)

Nishimachi International School is seeking a full-time, temporary classroom teacher for its elementary school with an immediate start until the end of the school year. The position does not continue for next school year, but rather fills a temporary vacancy this school year.

The successful candidate ideally will have the following qualifications and characteristics:

RELEVANT TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS
●4-year university degree
●Current teacher registration
●Three or more years elementary school experience
●Fluent in English (both oral and written)
●Currently reside in Japan with work rights (no visa can be sponsored for this position, due to its immediate and temporary nature)
●Recent child protection certificate or documentation

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS
●Teaching all subjects in elementary setting – literacy, math, social studies and science
●Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
●Collaborate effectively in a team to plan instruction, assessment and school programs/events
●Hold a growth mindset about students, colleagues and themselves
●Initiative and integrity

IDEAL EXPERIENCE
●Experience teaching lower elementary grades (i.e. Grades K-2)
●Has utilized and can comfortably report with the Common Core State Standards
●Comfortable using a variety of technology platforms
●Has experience in and is able to implement Reading and Writing Workshop

WORKING CONDITIONS
●As determined by the Faculty Rules of Employment
●Working days/hours: According to the School Academic calendar
●In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive the following benefits:
-- Housing Allowance: ¥50,000 per month
-- Family Allowance: ¥5,000 ~ ¥25,000 per month (depending on number of dependents)
-- Commutation Allowance: Actual Amount
