Requirements

  • English: Native level (preferred)
  • Japanese: Conversational (preferred)
  • Must currently reside in Japan
  • 12 years of education where English was the medium of instruction (all subjects)
  • University graduate with bachelor’s degree or higher (any field)
  • Able to commit to the full length of the contract with minimal consecutive absences
  • Willingness to work with young learners (ages 15 and under)
  • Valid work visa (eligible to work in Japan; we are unable to accept Tourist/Temporary visas)

【Be an ALT in beautiful and historic Aizuwakamatsu!】

We are now seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to work as an elementary/junior high school ALT in the city of Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima. This position starts in early 2022, but we highly encourage you to apply today to secure it. Successful candidates who are interested in continuing on after March will be given priority for future positions based on evaluation. For those living elsewhere in Japan and interested in moving to Aizuwakamatsu, we are able to assist you. Please read on for more information!

【Position Details】
●Location: Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture
●Contract Duration: January 11th, 2022 to March 22nd, 2022
●Contract Type: Monthly (Full-Time)
●General working hours: Between 8:00 am to 16:30 pm
●Level: Elementary schools and/or junior high schools
●Remuneration: Between 220,000 yen to 250,000 yen / month
●This position includes enrollment in Social Insurance
●This position includes partial compensation for moving expenses

【About ALT Work】
Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) work alongside Japanese teachers to make English lessons fun and engaging for the students. Practicing grammar and vocabulary, participating in games and activities to reinforce the lesson’s goals and communicating with students both inside and outside of the classroom are all part of a day’s work for ALTs.

【Requirements】
In addition to those stated above, successful candidates must have the following:

● Proactive in communicating with teachers and students
● Mentally and Physically Healthy
● Professional & able to follow obligations of the position
● Able to commit to the entire length of the contract (until March 2022)

【About Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima (福島県会津若松市)】
Bordered to the east by the great Lake Inawashiro, the city of Aizuwakamatsu is located in central Fukushima and offers a treasure trove of historical and cultural sites of interest. Once the site of the famous Battle of Aizu, the city features a castle (Tsuruga-Jo) with grounds dating back to the 14th century. Other things to see include the Oyaku-en medicinal herb gardens, two hot spring resorts, numerous samurai-era locales, and many annual festivals including the Aizu Festival and Sakura Festival.

A local commercial center, Aizuwakamatsu is the headquarters of many local television networks in Fukushima, and the city is famous for its sake brewing and lacquerware. Those living in Aizuwakamatsu will also want to sample the local cuisine, including the city’s own soba noodles and sauce-katsudon.
