KA is looking for qualified teachers and assistants with availability on a part-time basis.
Supply teachers and assistants help students, teachers and staff run smooth live classes on campus. This position can be fulfilled by a native, near-native, or fluent English speaker, who is comfortable using English, working with children, and working in a diverse workplace. The Supply Teaching / Assistant position is an entry-level position for those who hold valid working (Specialist in Humanities; Japanese national; working holiday; dependent of a Japanese national) or student visas. We are seeking intelligent, well-read, experienced and friendly teachers with strong writing/grammar skills and professional work ethic who wish to supplement their salary with regular (weekly) and irregular (seasonal, on a temporary basis) shifts. Classes that supply teachers teach consist of between 1-8 students and an average shift has four teaching blocks of 55-minutes each. Only teaching time and company-wide training activities are paid.
Hired supply teachers will undergo training and will be introduced to teaching shifts through our scheduling software and can opt into phone/text shift alerts. Minimum hours are required bimonthly to keep credentials active. Credentials that lapse must be renewed before shifts become available again.
Classroom assistants have similar interests in working with native or near native level returnees and are responsible for helping the main classroom teacher (tidiness, keeping track of resources, decorating), providing support to predetermined students, and advocating for all learners in the classroom. They help with behavior tracking and assist students in gaining independence with homework and study routines. Other duties include: conducting regular student check-ins (academic/social), 1:1 or small-group tutoring, and supervising students during transitions. Specifically, this position would entail multiple tutoring sessions with students from Grades 3-5. Shifts for this position also have fixed and flexible assignments.
Tests and training as a part of the interview process will determine suitability for either role.
