Description

The team at Imagr is growing and it's an exciting time to join us!

Imagr is leading the charge in automated retail technology with our end-to-end, AI powered checkout solution. Our goal is to revolutionise modern retail and make life easier for everyday people - with no checkouts and no queues. Check out this video for a quick peak at our office, our people and product!

We're a team of over 60 talented people with offices in both Auckland and Osaka, and we're expanding into Europe where we will be delivering pilots with some of the world's largest retailers. This role will be based in Osaka, where we are live with our customer H20 Retailing.

We're looking for a Field Application Engineer to be our on-the-ground engineering support, delivering the most seamless experience for our Japanese retailers and end-users.

This is a brand new role for us at Imagr, so if you're passionate about breaking ground & want to make your mark in Osaka with New Zealand's next big tech success story, we'd love to hear from you!

To give you a little more information about what the role will entail... if you're the successful candidate, you will:

-Provide ongoing support for all technical aspects of the Imagr product suite in Osaka, using engineering best practice. This will include being the first point of contact for the regional Imagr team, as well as customers in the region.
-Work with the Auckland team to diagnose and resolve tougher hardware and software issues by being the Auckland team’s eyes, ears and hands on the ground.
-Set up Imagr’s system on retailer premises in Osaka. This includes setting up wifi and connecting all the different elements of the system to the network.
-Understand and communicate the unique value provided by our technology to prospective and current retailers.
-Actively participate in project meetings, acting as the technical lead for the project implementation ensuring that technical requirements are translated accurately to the retailer and project implementation teams.
-Plus stepping outside of your role when needed and contributing as part of the Imagr team to help us successfully launch and expand our presence in Japan.

Here's what we think you'll need to hit the ground running:

-Technical competency - be that a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or in some other form - show us what you've got (University degree not necessarily required)!
-Familiarity with Linux, and with using command prompt.
-Experience working with electronics.
-Ability to set up a network, wifi and a small server room.
-Adaptability, resilience, and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
-Fluency in both Japanese and English (written + verbal)
-Experience in a customer facing product implementation role, transitioning immature or emerging technologies into consumer products
-And it would also be a bonus if you have experience working with or for a high growth technology startup business!

We face a diverse range of problems here at Imagr, and we need a diverse team to solve them, so put forward your unique perspective and let's see where it takes us.

What can you expect from us?
Not only do you get to work with a talented and passionate team on a groundbreaking product, but we'll also look after you. We can offer you a competitive salary, a comprehensive wellbeing programme that looks after your mental and physical health, an employee options scheme, shared lunch with the team on every Friday, and the opportunity to grow your career in a venture-backed tech company growing on an international scale.
