Description

Shonan International school is located in Tsujido district in Fujisawa, caters towards students from Kindergarten to Middle School. We are committed to providing children with a bilingual education program with a strong commitment to Japanese language, culture, and curriculum while developing commitment to intercultural understanding.
Currently we are applying to become an IB World School to offer the Primary Years Programme.


■Job Title: Kindergarten Main Teacher (Full Time)

■ Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
・Must have at least 4 years experience teaching children 
・Bachelor’s Degree or Master's degree required
・Teaching license
・Learn and apply pedagogical teachings adhered to Inquiry based learning
・Currently living in Japan, Has Working Visa

■ Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :
Classes:
・Kindergarten Inquiry
・Kindergarten Math
・Kindergarten Language Arts
・Kindergarten Assembly and SEL
・Nature Studies (once-twice a month)
・School Wide Action(collaborative session with teachers to coordinate an event with students)
・Create Lesson Plans and Syllabus for the each Term
・Documentation of Student Behavior and Present work on assigned platform
*Inquiry based learning is a curriculum framework that encourages collaboration upon planning for new units

■ Classroom Management:
・Applying methods of classroom
・Willing to apply discipline consistent with the school’s social & emotional approach
・Record attendance for your assigned grade level.
・Weekly lesson plans must be completed by Friday for the following week.
・Student Behavior to be observed and recorded to report to the Social and Emotional Specialist.

■ Meetings and Workshops:
・Participate in weekly Professional Development (Tuesday 15:30-17:30)
・Collaborative Teaching Meeting (Once a week for 30-60 min during school hours)

■ Student Assessments:
・Compile Report Cards for your assigned grade level
・Incorporate Assessments for each class
・Published documentation of class learning(once a week)

■ Safety and Health:
・All teachers must be certified by a first aid program, either MFA or Red Cross offered in the school. (Certifications must be renewed annually) (8 hours workshop)
・Attend monthly safety and health workshops offered by the school (once a month)
・Incident Reports to be submitted to Leadership Members or Safety Health Coordinator at the end of the day

■ Classroom Hygiene:
・Each teacher in the classroom will be responsible for keeping classrooms in a hygienic environment.
・Cleanliness is a very important aspect in the school community.
・Each teacher will be responsible for keeping the classrooms clean by following the hygienic procedures mandated by the administrator

■ Alternative Programs :
Summer Program and Summer Gakudo Program(planning and teaching)
Required to teach: 2 weeks
・Week A: 7/24-7/28
・Week B: 7/31-8/4

■ School Events:(*no lieu holiday due to events held on regular school days)
・Orientation Ceremony (April 15th, 2023)*
・ Family Fun Day (June 2023)
・ Parent Student Teacher Term 1 Meeting (October 2023)*
・ Winter Showcase (December 2023)
・ S.I.S. Broadway (March 2024)
・ Graduation (March 2024)
・ Parent Student Teacher Term 2 Meeting (February 2024)*

■Working Condition
・ Days: Monday to Friday (5 times a week)
・ Hours: 8:00am-16:00pm (except Tuesdays, Professional Development until 17:30)
・ Location: Fujisawa-shi Hatori 3-1-8 Aerus Tsujido C-2F
・ Salary: 278,000 yen ~ 358,500 yen

■School Holidays:
・National Holiday
・Public Holidays
・School Holidays (Saturday, Sunday)
・Winter Break (December 23rd, 2023~January 8th, 2024)
・Company Holidays(3 weeks, between August 7th-August 11th) *Different departments will be required to take holidays according to shifts.

■Welfare:
・Social Insurance: will be covered
・ Employment Insurance: will be covered
・ Pension: will be covered
