Full time Solo English teacher for returnee JHS/SHS students near Haijima Tokyo from September 2024 (expired)

Thank you for your interest in working for Project Genius, a concern of Korakuen English Centre. We aim to be the premier English language consultancy firm for private secondary schools in Japan.

Our client school for this position is a co-ed Christian secondary school near Haijima Station on JR Line and Seibu Line. Also, there are school buses from Haijima (6 minutes ride), JR Tachikawa (25 minutes ride) and JR Hachioji (20 minutes ride) stations.

This position will start in September 2024.

The majority of students you will be teaching will be high level/returnee junior high school students. However, you will also need to teach regular EFL classes.

We are looking for someone who can work a five day a week schedule from Mondays to Fridays. Our compensation package includes:


• A monthly pre-tax salary of 280,000 yen to 320,000 per month.
• Transportation expenses will be fully covered and reimbursed.
• A Japanese school year based renewable contract.
• Remuneration is not reduced during summer, winter, or spring vacations.
• Provide Social Insurance and Pension package.


Our ideal candidate:


• currently lives within a reasonable door-to-door commuting distance to the school campus.
• can work 5 days a week from 8:20 to 16:20
• has a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution, a subject teaching credential in their home country and a TEFL/TESOL certificate
• has experience teaching at a public or private secondary school in Japan
• has knowledge/experience related to teaching returnee/1.5 generation students
• can effectively build relationships with teachers and coworkers both in and outside the classroom
• can independently develop lesson plans, create instructional materials, and deliver engaging lessons with using assigned textbooks minimal support
• is willing to share ideas and keep a positive attitude with the staff and teachers, Japanese and non-Japanese, at our client school as well as with our off-site office and executive team.
• possesses native English-level proficiency
