GPlusMedia is looking for a native-English speaking writer, editor and general content person to join our GaijinPot, Japan Today and Savvy Tokyo editorial team. Ideally, you have experience working with content for a media outlet or related company and have previously written across a variety of subjects for other outlets. You also have basic to intermediate Japanese language skills and a good grasp of social media.

We’re looking for a multitasker who can fulfill several different roles with the ability to switch between online and print, as well as adapt to different writing styles across each of our channels. Knowing how to best utilize online content for foreign residents of Japan is a big advantage. You should have an understanding of life, current events and traditional/pop culture in Japan.

- Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Yearly contract

This is what you could be doing day to day
- Editing and uploading content to our CMS according to an editorial calendar. For example, something like “Japan’s New Permanent Residency Rules Explained” or “A Guide to Daycare in Tokyo”
- Communicating with writers about pitches and upcoming article submissions. This includes establishing a relationship with current contributors (based in Japan) as well as cultivating connections with new writers
- Writing original stories, such as an interview with an entrepreneur or travel tips on behalf of a paying client (sponsored content)
- Posting to social media accounts according to the style and voice that defines each channel (Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter)

This role isn’t strictly limited to a narrow job description in one department. So, if you’ve got some secret ninja skills up your sleeve — like photography, video editing, special social media sauce or imaginative podcast producing -— then you’ll get to use it.
