ABOUT THE JOB

We’re Solaris Japan, a company dedicated to bringing otaku goods to fellow otakus worldwide. We sell mostly anime merchandise, games, and electronics although we’re always looking for new opportunities, one of which is content creation!

Just like with otaku goods, we are lucky to have easy access to Japan’s unique pop culture and want to show this to the world. This means we want to start creating digital content (mostly video) to share across a variety of marketing channels, like social media.

Since we are just starting our content team, we will need team members who can wear multiple hats and maintain the initiative to develop projects and see them through. At the core of this position, we need someone who is a creative thinker with unique storytelling ideas; additionally, some general expectations for this position include:

- Daily content ideation and creation (e.g. pitching, filming, editing)
- Build and maintain the brand through exceptional creative including messaging, tone, content production and design
- Staying on top of trends and opportunities (including videos, audio, hashtags, creators, etc.)
- Deep understanding of all major social platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, Facebook, Snapchat, Youtube, etc.), with the ability to best tailor the appropriate creative for effective results
- Experience in digital video content production or editorial/publishing, content scheduling, and community management
- Reporting on performance as needed

Since we need a production team with flexibility, applicants MUST meet the requirements from at least 2 or more of the below categories:


VIDEOGRAPHY

Responsibilities:
- Design and plan the shoot with the creative team
- Film videos on set or on location
- Edit footage in post-production

Requirements:
- Prior internship or job experience in digital video content production (portfolio required, social media preferred)
- Solid production and post-production skills (set design, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
- Experience with creating engaging content for a multitude of platforms


COPYWRITING

Responsibilities:
- Research and develop engaging treatments and scripts for video content (portfolio required)
- Brainstorming and writing short- and long-form blog content
- Additional projects like email newsletters, social media posts, and more

Requirements:
- Prior internship or job experience producing copy for print and/or digital media channels
- Exceptional writing, proofreading, and research skill
- Experience with creating engaging content for a multitude of platforms


VOICE-OVER/ON-CAMERA PRESENTER

Responsibilities:
- Work across various different media, including video and audio
- Convey tone and emotion through voice and body language, as well as improvise as needed
- Collaborate on concepts for videos/photos

Requirements:
- Prior experience with voice-over and/or on-camera work (portfolio required)
- Must be comfortable on camera – outgoing personality and not nervous going live or filming videos
- Experience with creating engaging content for a multitude of platforms
