Just graduated from university and unsure about the future? Planning to make some life changes soon with only a rough outline of the next step? It's never too late to get started! Teaching English overseas is a great direction to take your career. With Borderlink, Inc., you can live and work in Japan as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) starting in 2022!
Even though it's still a long way off, even now we are accepting applications and holding interviews for those looking to start next year. There's still plenty of time to apply, but the earlier you get started, the more time you'll have to prepare for the journey. If you're already in Japan and looking to start sooner, we also have opportunities available and welcome your application. Either way, we're waiting to hear from you!
[Why Be an ALT?]
Whether you're right out of university and completely new to teaching, or a seasoned educator looking to broaden your experience, being an ALT is a great way to learn and refine the fundamentals of managing a classroom, developing lessons and activities, and so much more.
ALTs work regular school hours (generally between 8 AM to 5 PM) and enjoy free evenings, weekends and national holidays, plus school vacation periods. Overtime work is very rare and you can enjoy a work-life balance that lets you grow professionally, while also having the time to explore and enjoy Japan and its culture. If you're willing to learn and are open to new experiences, we can and will help you! The schools and students we work with want the best, and we'll make sure you are the best!
[Who Are We Looking For?]
In addition to the requirements stated at the top of this ad, successful applicants should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be in good health, and be an excellent team player.
Japanese isn't required but is highly desired by many schools, so knowledge of the language or a willingness to learn is encouraged. The ability to drive in Japan is also highly sought-after and widens your range of possibilities.
[Support Every Step of the Way]
For those successful candidates overseas, after passing the interview stage, we give continuing direction and assistance no matter where you are. We will help you during the visa application process and guide you through the pre-departure steps. Our team will give you advice on general life in Japan and basic language lessons to help get you ready for the trip.
This support continues over the months of preparation, so even if your first day stepping into school seems far away now, our team will help you feel like you're already on the road there. We also offer extra support with arranging housing for newcomers to make the process of getting settled in as smooth as possible.
If you're applying from within Japan, we can also help with locating housing should you wish to relocate for work, assistance with enrollment in health insurance and managing end-of-year tax forms. Wherever you start your journey with us, we offer help with setting up a bank account, hassle-free visa support, and round-the-clock assistance so you can live and work comfortably!
Other benefits of being an ALT with Borderlink include year-round training (including orientation/initial training), access to teaching materials and our library of educational resources (worksheets, flashcards, etc.), free monthly consultation from veteran ALTs, a yearly calendar to help manage your schedule, paid holidays (as stipulated by the contract), possibility of contract renewal and/or advancement in the company based on performance and skills.
[Already in Japan? Looking to Start Sooner?]
If you're already in Japan, holding a valid working visa and looking for work starting before Spring 2022, we have some available positions that are open right now. Please don't hesitate to let us know when applying to this advertisement if you are able to start sooner.
Does this sound like the opportunity you've been seeking? Then what are you waiting for? Get on the road towards an exciting new future! Take that first step and apply today! Thank you for your interest in Borderlink. Let's believe in your possibility together!
*Please note that as we receive a high number of applicants, only those who pass the initial screening will be contacted for an interview.
