◆What prior work experience/qualifications are required?
We offer fully comprehensive training and support to ensure your success – this means no prior training or experience is required. We want to make sure even brand new teachers can succeed in providing quality and engaging lessons, and most importantly, enjoy themselves while doing so!
◆ What to Expect
・Typical responsibilities include: Leading and supporting a variety of highly active games and activities, such as Arts & Crafts, Music & Dance, Science, Social Studies, and Teacher’s Choice. All programs are conducted in 100% English.
・Class Size: Expect to conduct activities with both large and small groups of students, ages 3-12 (sometimes as many as 30 or more students).
・Regular Working Hours: Kids Duo teachers work in 9-hour shifts, typically Monday to Friday. Example shifts include 9:30-18:30, 10:00-19:00, 11:00-20:00, etc. (Shifts are comprised of 8 working hours, plus a 1-hour lunch break.) Teachers also participate in occasional special events held on Saturdays & Sundays, including open schools, spelling bees, and recitals.
・Our Curriculum & Lesson Plans: While lesson plans for main activities are provided, teachers are expected to be proactive in creating their own unique and original games/lesson ideas as well. Teachers also demonstrate & model proper behavior and life skills during their time spent with students.
☆Qualifications / Requirements☆
・Due to our curriculum’s emphasis on phonics and pronunciation practice, only Native or Native-level English speakers who meet the highest standards of fluency will be considered.
・No prior professional teaching experience is required, but experience interacting with and caring for children ages 3-12 will be a huge advantage to your success early on. (Bonus points for volunteer, coaching, summer camp, and babysitting experience!)
・Team Player: You prioritize your teams’ success above your own, elevating other teachers’ performance through proactive collaboration and sharing of fun and new ideas.
・Energy & Enthusiasm: As a Kids Duo Program Leader, the engagement and enthusiasm of your students depend on the level of energy you exhibit in your class. You must be outgoing, extroverted, and passionate in order to expect the same from your students!
☆Benefits & Compensation☆
・Starting salary of ￥250,000~￥300,000 (negotiable)
・Renewal Bonus after successful completion of 1-year contract (￥100,000)
・Work-related commuting costs reimbursed
・Teachers receive fully-paid comprehensive initial training, during which accommodation and transportation reimbursement can be provided if necessary.
・Usable and transferable experience & skills gained via regular teaching workshops held throughout the year.
・10 paid days of leave per year (after 6 months of employment), in addition to national holidays.
・Social Security & Health Insurance provided.
・Visa sponsorship and renewal support available.
