Let’s make children love English together! Starting this September, 2020, you can be a start of something amazing as Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Yoshino Town, Nara Prefecture!

About Yoshino Town:
Yoshino Town, Nara Prefecture is Japan’s most famous cherry blossom spot. It features over 30,000 cherry trees planted around the slopes which visitors can admire as they walk along the roads that lead up the mountain.
Yoshino also offers a rich history, which makes it an interesting destination at any time of the year. In 2004, Yoshino, together with Mount Koya and Kumano, was designated a cultural UNESCO World Heritage Site named the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range".

About the position:
The placement will be in Junior high schools in Yoshino Town, Nara Prefecture where the ALT will assist as a team teacher and help plan English lessons under a schedule created by GLAD and the Board of Education. As well as teaching English lessons, you may also be asked to participate in other school activities such as clubs, cleaning the school, and cultural festivals. You will be teaching with Japanese teacher so that flexibility and trying to not be self-assertion is important for co-teaching.

Contract term:
September 1st, 2020 – March 31st, 2021

Benefits
・Transportation costs will be covered at a certain rate per month (car and travel expenses included)
・Days off include weekends, national holidays, and other holidays set on the Board of Education's school calendar
・Rental car provided
・Ongoing and continuous support (training and advice)

Conditions
・Monthly base compensation: From ¥240,000 per month (It will be decided after some interviews)
・Working hours: Monday through Friday (8:30 am – 4:30 pm)
・Placement: Junior high school in Yoshino Town

Qualification:
・Excellent English skill
・Holder of a university Bachelor's degree (or higher)
・Holder of a valid visa status that allows work in Japan (visa sponsorship/renewal available)
・Holder of a Japanese driver's license or international driving permit
・Able to speak conversational Japanese: communication is crucial for planning and creating lessons with Japanese teachers of English. We also highly suggest that teachers be able to be involved with the communities here
