SEG is a juku for junior and senior high school students which is well known for teaching English through a communicative and comprehension-based approach.

We are particularly well known for our extensive reading program, which complements our oral communication program. The oral communication program is inspired by methodologies like The Natural Approach and TPRS.

We’re looking for teachers who are interested in language teaching as a long-term career and who are interested in professional development and learning new skills. We have a comprehensive training program for new teachers.

We have openings for full-time teachers in our oral communication and writing program beginning in March 2020.

Contract period: March 2020 (flexible start date) to February 2021 (renewable)
Nearest station: Shinjuku

Salary: Starting salary of 320,000 yen to 400,000 yen per month. (3,840,000 yen to 4,800,000 yen per year)
Annual pay raises.
Health Insurance, Employee's Pension and Unemployment Insurance are provided.
Commuting expenses are provided.

Working Hours: 13:00 - 21:30. However, we generally arrive between 13:00 and 14:00 and then stay for 7 hours.

Days Off: Sunday and one weekday. The day off is at the company's discretion, but you can request the day that you would like. It is not possible to have Saturday as a day off.

Annual paid vacation days: 23 days per year.

Contact hours: Full-time teachers have up to 13.5 teaching hours per week during the regular school terms. Classes are 80 minutes long (plus a 10 minute break). So a full schedule would be 9 regular classes.

Responsibilities: Teaching English to junior and senior high school students. Curriculum development and materials design.

We are looking for candidates who can meet the following criteria:
1) At least 2 years of teaching experience in Japan
2) Experience planning and teaching original lessons
3) University degree in linguistics, language teaching, or a foreign language
4) English teaching qualification
5) N3 or higher ability in Japanese (if you don’t speak Japanese, you can list other languages that you have learned)

It is not necessary to meet all of the above criteria, but the more of them that you meet, the better your chances will be.

Your goal is to demonstrate the difference in meaning without students feeling like they are getting a grammar lecture.
